The corona virus COVID-19 pandemic is causing a global health crisis so the effective protection methods is wearing a face mask in public areas according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The COVID-19 pandemic forced governments across the world to impose lockdowns to prevent virus transmissions. Reports indicate that wearing face masks while at work clearly reduces the risk of transmission. An efficient and economic approach of using AI to create a safe environment in a manufacturing...

The people of India are mainly dependent on the agriculture and allied field. In order to alleviate the crisis on farming fronts, it is necessary that we should discover new mechanisms by which farmers are adequately and rightfully compensated for their labour. That is the reason why an autonomous robot had to be made in order to reduce the labour and labour costs of farming in India. Fruit plucking is an important process in farming. An autonomous robot which could pluck fruits on its own in a...

This is a robot that can catch the balls you throw at it, using computer vision. It uses two PS3 Eye cameras to triangulate the ball's position, and moves a Cartesian coordinate robot accordingly. The robot and its software was developed by a team of four high school students, in two and a half weeks, at Rose Hulman's "Operation Catapult" Engineering program. It won the Best Project Award. The robot's design was inspired by the mechanics of generic 3D printers and CNC machines, but...

Drowsiness or fatigue is a major cause of road accidents and has a significant impact on road safety. There are many fatal accidents that can be avoided if drowsy drivers are warned early. There are a variety of sleep detection systems available that monitor drivers' drowsiness while driving and alert drivers if they are not focused on driving. Appropriate features can be extracted from facial expressions such as yawning, eye closing, and head movement to determine the level of sleepiness. The...

The use of a fiducial marker system for precise robot navigation, object recognition and object manipulation. I’ll demonstrate how a single web camera with OpenCV based digital processing algorithms can be used to localize the camera relative to fiducial markers in 3D space with sub-millimeter precision. These techniques are applicable to robotics with regards precise robot navigation within...

Perimeter surveillance of forward operating locations, such as Forward Arming and Refueling Points (FARPs), is crucial to ensure the survivability of personnel and materiel. FARPs are frequently located well outside the protective cover of the main forward operating bases. Therefore, they must provide their own organic perimeter defenses. Such defenses are manpower intensive. Our research investigates how cheap, remote, unattended sensors using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components can...

Agriculture is extremely important in human life. Almost 60% of the population is engaged in some kind of agriculture, either directly or indirectly. There are no technologies in the traditional system to detect diseases in various crops in an agricultural environment, which is why farmers are not interested in increasing their agricultural productivity day by day. Crop diseases have an impact on the growth of their respective species, so early detection is critical. Many Machine Learning (ML)...

The development and miniaturization of CMOS (microphones and cameras) in the last years have allowed the creation of WMSN (Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network). Therefore, transferring multimedia content through the network has become an important field of research. It transmits the recorded multimedia data wirelessly from a node to another to reach the Sink (base station). Thus, routing protocols make a big contribution in this process, because they participate in optimizing the node's resource...

This is an initial attempt at creating a basic JeVois camera module mounting plate that will fit common tripods and 1/4" UNC bolt fixings. I used the mounting pattern from http://jevois.org/doc/CaseMounting.html - the official documentation state that the JeVois case mounting holes are spec'd for M2.5/2-56 screws, but I found that M2 screws had the right diameter to bite the plastic without being over-tight. I'd recommend M2x6 screws to account for the 1mm countersink in the plate - I also...

Abstract —This contribution gives an overview of face recogni-tion algorithms, their implementation and practical uses. First, a training set of different persons’ faces has to be collected and used to train a face recognizer. The resulting face model can be utilized to classify people in specific individuals or unknowns. After tracking the recognized face and estimating the acoustic sound source’s position, both can be combined to give detailed information about possible speakers and if...

This is a modular frame-system being designed because of my thesis. It is used to detect ArUco markers from both sides (front and back). However, it can also be used for any other paperlike objects such as photos. 3D Print instructions: - 1 perimeter is enough. Infill at 15%. - You need 2 of the printed half-frames for one frame. - You need at least 1 holding clip for fixation. However, I suggest using 12 of them, arranged like in the first picture. Use a brim if printing more than one at once....
