The purpose of this research is to develop a more comprehensive energy investment decision model that includes intangible factors related to risk and resiliency. Additionally, this project evaluates the current Department of the Navy energy investment model and pinpoints how gaps and shortfalls lead to increased exposure to avoidable energy risk. The project selects the relevant risk and resiliency factors for inclusion, and then quantifies them as inputs for a new decision making model. The...

The existing clean energy technologies are wind and solar which are intermittent in nature and depends on the availability of the wind and sunlight. To give stability to the power supply another source of clean energy which does not depend on uncontrollable wind or sunlight is required. Currently nuclear energy is the only other clean energy technology which has been developed to such an extent to support the transition. This paper proposes that captive and private nuclear power generation...

This article presents a review about the application of various non‐conventional & renewable energy sources especially solar energy. Renewable energy sources are indigenous, and can therefore contribute to reducing dependency on energy imports and increasing security of supply. Development of renewable energy sources can actively contribute to job creation, predominantly among the small and medium sized enterprises which are so central to the community economic fabric, and indeed...

China’s total energy consumption in 2011 has reached 3.48 billion tons of energy coal, which took about 20% of the whole world’s consumption. As the main energy form in China the coal took a proportion of about 68‐71% of the primary energy. The industry consumed about 70% energy in the national total amount, in which the chemical engineering, building materials, steel and iron, and power generation consumed 55~60% in the whole industry. On the other hand, for most high energy‐consumed...

Measurements of the temperature profiles in an RF argon plasma were made over magnetic field intensities ranging from 20 amp turns/cm to 80 amp turns/cm. The results were compared with a one-dimensional numerical treatment of the governing equations and with an approximate closed form analytical solution that neglected radiation losses. The average measured temperatures in the plasma compared well with the numerical treatment, though the experimental profile showed less of an off center...

Energy Supply – demand gap is increasing in almost all parts of the world. With depleting energy resources, the energy scarcity has become a global problem. Global supply-demand gap during the year 2010 was 11.35% as against 5.32% in 2001. Industrialisation and increased use of energy may result in energy crisis and thus needs to be addressed with priority. With seemingly poor growth rate of 5.6% of fuel resources it does not match the power requirement. For India, the energy scenario is not...

We are facing a global energy crisis caused by world population growth, an escalating increase in demand, and continued dependence on fossil-based fuels for generation. It is widely accepted that increases in greenhouse gas concentration levels, if not reversed, will result in major changes to world climate with consequential effects on our society and economy. This is just the kind of intractable problem that Purdue University’s Global Policy Research Institute seeks to address in the ...

This Energy stability and security in the world have become important issues in almost every country. These are very important for the economic, social and economic development of each country. Getting energy is crucial for the development of any country, whether it comes to its industry or the economy. The paper presents the development and implementation of renewable energy sources, such as wind-power, solar energy, small hydro and biomass, both in the world and the EU. It elaborates and...

In developing countries the energy problems are both widespread and serious. Lack of access to sufficient and sustainable supplies of energy impacts around 90% of the population of many developing countries. People are compelled to live without regular and good quality electricity supply. The rural population remains dependent on fuels such as animal dung, crop residues, fuel wood and charcoal to cook their daily meals. Without efficient, clean energy, people are undermined in their efforts to...

Renewable technologies are considered as clean sources of energy and optimal use of these resources minimize environmental impacts, produce minimum secondary wastes and are sustainable based on current and future economic and social societal needs. The potential for renewable energy resources is enormous because they can, in principle, exponentially exceed the world?s energy demand; therefore, these types of resources will have a significant share in the future global energy portfolio, much of...

I’m concerned about cutting UK emissions of twaddle – twaddle about sustainable energy. Everyone says getting off fossil fuels is important, and we’re all encouraged to “make a difference,” but many of the things that allegedly make a difference don’t add up. Twaddle emissions are high at the moment because people get emo- tional (for example about wind farms or nuclear power) and no-one talks about numbers. Or if they do mention numbers, they select them to sound big, to make an...

In this paper DC linked, grid connected solar/hydro hybrid system is modelled and simulated. A control scheme is developed for solar and hydro system for variable solar irradiance and variable load. Synchronous generator based hydro system is used to feed bulk of the power and whenever solar irradiance is available solar system along with hydro system and grid supply to the load. The performance analysis of the proposed HES and its power management strategy has been done using the simulink...
