After adding a few pegs and getting the length of the hook right this is what I came up with. Summary Like many others I was frustrated that I couldn't get these to fit because their inner and outer diameter were pretty much the same. So I imported the stl into SketchUp and used the rough measurements to draw another one. I beveled the inner edge so supports aren't required anymore. I've printed these at 0.3mm on a 0.4mm nozzle with 10% infill in PLA and they fit really well. Some other plastics might need a different tolerance, so I'll upload the SketchUp file with some instructions on...

Based on the Print-In-Place storage boxes from user, askedall, these are about 70% of the size, and the alignment features on the top and bottom are arrayed as a square pattern, so the orientation of the device doesn't matter. Eventually, I hope to create a lazy suzan and have a four sided storage tower.

Summary This spool holder is a great piece of work, but I do have many spools, and do not want to replace spool everytime, so I've made an adapter, that allows to stack spools on holder one of another. Just print it, mount on bottom spool, and you now can now place another spool on top. You can stack as many spools as your holder can handle. Justy print another adapter :P
