us. and yet, throughout the grave challenges of the last year, we have seen new heroes emerge. health care workers on the front line who care for patients, often quarantining themselves from their families to keep them safe and healthy. first responders who have encountered more cries for help from greater drug use to increased cases of domestic violence to a rise in child abuse as a result of a pandemic-induced isolation. parents who have had to balance working their jobs to pay their mortgage and put food on the table with taking care of their children who are at home because schools and day care centers have been shut down. educators who have had to change entirely how they teach our kids moving from in front of a classroom to in front of a computer screen. truckers who have kept our supply chains moving. grocery store clerks who have kept our shelves full. the list goes on. but what the last year has shown us all is that montanans step up in a time of crisis. neighbors help neighbors.

here's the deal, if incentives help us beat this virus, i believe we should use them. we all benefits when we get more people vaccinated. and the addition to providing incentives for vaccination it is time to impose requirements on key groups to make sure they are vaccinated. just this week we took an important step to protect our veterans. like many civilian hospital systems are doing, the department of veterans affairs will now require covid-19 vaccines for doctors and nurses and other healthcare workers who provide medical care for veterans. we must do everything possible to protect our veterans from getting covid when they come to get medical care they so richly earned serving their country. we owe them. next, since many vaccinations are required for active duty military today, i am asking the defense department to look into how and when they will add covid-19 to the list of vaccinations the armed forces must get. our men and women in uniform who protect this country from grave threat should be protected as much as possible from getting covid-19. i think this is pa

so i directed the coordinator of our covid-19 response to put a us on a war footing, to get us on track to truly beat this virus. i am proud to announce that tomorrow, 58 days into our administration, we will have met my goal of delivering 100 million shots to our fellow americans. that is weeks ahead of schedule. even with the setbacks we faced during the winter storms. there is another big step on the path of putting checks into the pockets and shots in people's arms. when we crossed the 50 million doses just three weeks ago, i told you that every time we had the 15 million mark would update you on the progress. so here is what we are today. eight weeks ago, only 8% of seniors, those most vulnerable to covid-19, had received the vaccination. today, 65% of people 65 or older have received at least one shot. and 36% are fully vaccinated. and that is key. because this is a population that represents 80% of the well over 500,000 covid-19 deaths that occurred in america. we nearly doubled the amount of vaccine doses that we distribute to states, tribes and territories each week. we have go

none of them ended up being used particularly a lot. their benefit existed largely from their existence, so people knew there was a backstop. to avoid that moral hazard, it is important we keep those design principles in mind. so i actually think we did a pretty good job in designing those facilities as good as could be done to try to prevent those moral hazard issues in the future. >> do you think investors will think that covid was such an unprecedented event, that that is not something the fed will necessarily do in the future? mr. quarles: obviously the particularly what i call the credit support facilities versus the facilities that were new this time around were designed to solve for a particular circumstance. you had an economy that was closing down for a limited period of time. so that kind of credit support could help bridge the economy to its reopening. it is going to be a relatively unusual circumstance where you have that degree of simultaneous economy closure with an expectation that in a defined public time, it will reopen

host: went to the government start using your data? guest: i would say probably close to the very beginning. but what we have discovered in later months, we know that both the trump and biden administrations have cited our numbers for various things. we know that states use the data to compare what was going on themselves to other states nearby. this is not ideal. our mission has always been bashar position has always been that the very best place for this data collection for a whole variety of reasons is the federal government. we didn't want to create some pseudo-cdc. we wanted the cdc and hhs more broadly to create the kind of data that lawmakers expected, that the public expected, that would allow us to understand which communities are the most vulnerable, and that changed through time. i think it is important for people to understand that tracking rates and data allows you to really understand another dimension of this outbreak. at certain times in california, latinos were the most affected, and people in the latino community like

it gives each of us its own struggles, but a common challenge. everyone has a covid story, even if they or their loved ones were never infected. everyone has a place in this struggle. we cannot consider ourselves alone in these challenges. we all share a thirst for more justice. the police and citizen violence we saw has traumatized the nation. we need not only conversations, but action, action on truth that has been overlooked for far too long. our collective consciousness is at a crescendo. let's ride the wave at first. let's recognize opportunities for growth, even in these dark times. we will incorporate equity in how the laws are applied and institutions are run, including independent investigations and prosecutions. we owe it to countless washingtonians who live with the realities of racial injustice every day and who are less free because of it. we will be working to incorporate an equity lens into health care, jobs, education, pollution, and more. progress is what we are known for. when i first took the oath in 2013, our state was trying

we have 1043 illegally voted using a po box. everyone we have seen has been when there is a mailbox in a multi family building, like an apartment. you will have what looks like po boxes listed in the system that they are the residential address of record for those who live in multi family housing, like apartments. we have not seen anybody registering to vote at a usps po box. next is over 4000 voter passed the registration deadline. that is zero. we have zero record of anybody doing that because the voter registration cutoff is the cutoff. there is no corresponding way to do that. they could not be issued a ballot because they are not in the system. 2360 people have died before the election. our information we go through county by county shows potentially to -- it could change, but it is not 10,000. .95 cast ballots in two states we are investigating that, but we have double voters that we are investigating. we are talking handfuls, not tens of thousands. i think we are all clear on the .umber that it was 11,779 we see nothing i
