rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> the san francisco police department and district attorney's office have decided to preserve an agreement which makes the da's office. the lead investigative agency and any case involving a police officer's use of force police bill scott announced earlier this month that he was terminating the memorandum of understanding or the you as it's called over allegations that the da's office was withholding evidence in an investigation. district attorney chesa boudin denied those claims. an attorney general rob bonta was brought in to help mediate a conversation between the 2 agencies. today bonta announced the m o u has been extended for another 60 days. that will give the police department and the da's office more time to reach a new agreement. >> crime victims, their families are pushing lawmakers for more public safety solutions, especially with some crimes rising during the pandemic. they rallied at state capitol, demanding better investments in community crime prevention efforts and resources for healing victims. our capitol bureau reporter ashley zavala exp

i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news. thank you, rob. one of the men accused of killing kron 4 security guard kevin nishita was back in court today. >> a couple hours ago should be mitchell pleaded not guilty. and alameda county court. the 25 year-old is being charged for the murder of love crowd for guard. the shooter who is shot and killed last november in oakland while guarding one of our reporters. lauren gilbert and hershel hale are also accused in the case. hale was arrested, but police are still looking for gilbert. the next court date for mitchell. he's scheduled for june 15th. that is for a pretrial hearing. governor newsom unveiled his latest proposed state spending plan today. the state's estimated budget surplus. he's up to an eye-popping nearly 100 billion dollars. alright, capitol bureau reporter ashley zavala explains what's in that very high price plan. >> governor gavin newsome rolling out his proposed 300 billion dollars state budget newsom's administration estimating california will have a 97.5 billion dollar surplus.

i'm rob nesbitt kron 4 news. thank you, rob. now let's look at the bay area's latest case numbers for monkeypox. san francisco county continues to see a spike in cases. city officials say there are now 222 confirmed cases in san francisco. alameda county trails behind with 50 cases today. santa clara county is reporting. 39 at napa county just confirmed its first case today. national leaders are taking steps to deal with the monkeypox virus at home and abroad. according to the cdc, more than 3400 cases are confirmed here in the u.s. the world health organization says the monkeypox outbreak has become a significant threat to global health. u.s. health leaders have not gone as far as to declare a public health emergency over monkeypox. white house says it's doing its part to address the outbreaks at home. first, it's a dramatically procurement production and distribution of vaccines. >> second, it's a significantly expand access to testing. the cdc encourages americans at risk and those in close contact with them. >> to get the mo
