oakland is not yet out of the picture. the city just got money to make improvements to jack london square which is where the a's want to put a new waterfront ballpark. the city council is expected to take a final vote on the stadium early next year. as the bay area continues to experience drought, more residents could soon be asked to cut their water use. the public utilities commission will meet tuesday to possibly declare a water shortage emergency. businesses and residents could be asked to reduce water use by 5%. the reductions will not be enforced and those who do not comply will not be punished. the emergency declaration would enact a surcharge of up to 5% on water bills that would start april 1 of next year. today, hundreds of families would get a turkey for their thanksgiving meal, thanks in part to e 40. the wrapper donated $12,000 in turkeys and gift cards to the hottest meal giveaway. this is the fourth turkey drive for the club and they will also be handing out hot meals today. the giveaway starts at 11:00 this

that is largely because of targeted efforts oakland police made. what has changed that those successes have now reversed? >> i think the pandemic had a tremendous impact on law enforcement across the country. but in oakland in particular, our cease-fire strategy is our primary strategy for reducing gun violence. and we were unable to practice that cease-fire strategy in the same way that we have been doing for years, and seeing a lot of success, like you mentioned. unable to directly communicate with those at risk, but also unable to do violence interruption, like we had done in the past. oakland's apartment of violence prevention has been really successful, and making relationships with those involved in violence, and because of the pandemic, they were not able to do violence prevention in the same way. we were able to directly communicate, and i think as the pandemic begins to move forward, in terms of us moving into different tiers, we are able to actually get back to our normal way of doing our cease-fire strategy. we are looking forward to mor
