this morning oakland united and members of the oakland chinatown community will rally outside a's headquarters to try to convince the team owners to commit themselves to and provide money for the site at the howard terminal. the group of citizens is demanding that the team negotiate in good faith with the city and commit to things like housing and local hires for the project. another group demanding the team does not build at the howard terminal but stay at the current side. this afternoon that group of the east oakland stadium alliance will release a report saying there's serious concerns if the stadium at the howard terminal. they argue the congestion would bring devastation to the port in terms of the business. that's why they want a's to next tuesday the oakland city council is scheduled to vote on a nonbinding agreement for the a's proposed stadium at the howard toirm nal. commissioner rob manfred is trying to apply pressure on the city to reach a deal. he says that the way the city council votes next week will determine the fate of baseball in oakland and calls it a quote mistake to thin

yesterday an oakland police officer was shot in the line of duty. bob, we have seen this in many cities before. oakland, do they have a solution to this? >> they think they do, at least a partial solution. on monday the city of oakland unfortunately recorded its 100th homicide for this year alone. yesterday the city council declared gun violence to be a public health emergency in that city. as far as the solution, the county is now asking -- the city is now asking the county of alameda to allocate money from the covid stimulus package to the city of oakland's department of violence prevention. a new police academy will put officers on the street. with this money from the relief fund, the city would be able medical clinics, housing support and help small minority owned businesses. >> we talk about gun violence in oakland, the majority of those dying and losing their lives are black men and brown men. so this resolution is to uplift the severity of the crisis that we are in with 100 lives lost and the majority of those black and brown men and women dy

for oakland police. you could see the family, they've been out here trying to get more information and right over there if you were to pan over to your left, you can see that party bus. as you zoom in, you can see the windows that were shot at early this morning while that party bus was driving around oakland on 580 on some of the side streets. so i did speak to a family member who is out here and they tell us one of those dead is a 19-year-old girl who was on that party bus. according to family, several young girls in the age range of 19, 20 years old, they were on this bus, they were driving around oakland overnight to celebrate one of the girls' birthdays. it was 12:30, someone pulled up alongside the bus on 508 and started firing into the bus. we believe some of the shooting took place on eastbound 580 between macarthur and seminary, where the freeway was shut down from 12:55 to 2:45 and a lot of shooting at 68th and foothill. you might see video of shell casings on the ground. the bus ended up here

with regards to the oakland coliseum site, oakland's vice mayor rebecca kaplan tells us she's confident the site will fulfill its goal of 6,000 shots a day. >> those new doses are not here yet sohankful that the oakland coliseum site they are setting aside 6,000 doses a day from the federal supply to start the service at the coliseum site, even as we continue to push for the nation to ramp up with vaccinations throughout the country. >> reporter: the biden administration in conjunction with the state of california has designated the oakland coliseum site as one of its first 100 vaccination sites nationwide. g fema, state employees, they put the finishing touches on this 30-acre parking lot at the coliseum where people will receive their shots starting this morning. the governor through a tweet urged eligible people to register for the covid-19 vaccine. the first people eligible for the shot include health care workers, skilled nursing home residents, people who live in assisted living facilities, food and agricultural workers, teachers, anyone 65 years of age and older. the vaccinations

our schools are microcosms of the community and of oakland as a whole. we know alameda and oakland have had issues with the delta variant and with covid since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. >> for all the parents out there watching right now, what is the deal? home quarantine, can you explain that for your classrooms for montclair elementary and oakland high? >> what that means is based on the state guidance, if you have three cases in a classroom, that means the entire class these isolate at home. that's quarantine at home for two weeks. so it's abundance of caution. we don't know at this point if there's any indication of community transmission in those classes. it's really too early to know that. but we want to make sure that we're protecting everybody. we don't know, and frankly, i can't it will you whether it was students or staff who were affected, because we don't want to, you know, infringe on anybody's privacy, but we do know that these classes both at montclair and oakland high had multiple cases, that's why we're doing this extra step

so oakland played ball today. the city council approve ago plan that would finance the move to the howard terminal at the port of oakland, but it was not the home run the team was hoping are to. the city voting a proposal the team hadn't approved. project that would include 35,000 fans and 1.5 million square feet of office space as well as retail space, hotel room and outdoor space for the public. here's how the vote went. six council members voted yes. one council member, noel gallo followed through with what he told us yesterday and voted no. council member carol feist on stained. they said the development would help create jobs. but council member gallo says the a's have a better option. >> i do support staying at the coliseum. because we have all the structures. the land, the money and certainly the commitment of the city of oakland to move and rebuild a new stadium. rebuild east oakland. >> we are unified in keeping the a's rooted in oakland in a way that protects our port, protects our community and protects
