as we speak, investigators in atlanta are working to find answers to explain exactly what fueled the latest massacre in america. today, there was a vigil held outside golden spa, one of three spas targeted in last week's attack. and across the country, thousands stood in solidarity to take a stand against hate. one of the rallies was held in new york city, where senate majority leader chuck schumer said that hate against one is hate against all. he promised he will fight to insure the justice department prosecutes anyone who commits a hate crime. but in regards to the spa shootings in atlanta, federal and local officials say their investigations are not there. at least yet. saying they have yet to find concrete evidence that allows them to build a hate crime case against the gunman who killed eight. six of them of asian descent. i want to be clear here. it is still very possible hate crime charges will be applied, but there is no denying across that country hate crimes targeting asians and asian-americans are spiking and spiking fast, which alejandro mayorkas addressed earlier today.

you have atlanta mayor keisha lance bottoms signing an order. i mean, that might blunt the impact, i suppose, but how do you make sure that voters are able, equipped to combat these efforts? >> you know, i think that we do need to have education as part of it, which is why our organization and many other organizations on the ground are doing voter education work. we've been engaged. some of the mobilizization didn't just up and happen. that came after people working on the ground, working with communities, working with groups, educating them about the opportunity to vote, educating them about the significance of voting and the impact of their votes. and so they responded to that. the other way is there a we have to safeguard people's right to vote, that we cannot allow legislation that is punitive that, punishes people for participating in the process. that's essentially what is happening. so georgia voters are now under attack, particularly black voters are under attack because they came out in record numbers this last election cycle. and so wh

you've been calling for a boycott of atlanta-based coca-cola. what do you want to see from corporations? >> well, last june, for example, the president of coca-cola made a statement. he said companies like ours must speak out for black lives matter and social justice issues. our companies can do better and we believe he was correct. our concern is with them attempting to suppress black votes and with racism, coca-cola has been quiet. delta has been quiet. home depot has been quiet. and we must not sit back and allow these corporations to remain silent in the face of what is going on. this week, we're trying to arrange a meeting with corporate executives across the country to speak to them about their responsibility to speak out on these issues. and if they do not respond, then we will be calling for a boycott of some of these companies. we cannot give them millions and millions and millions of black people and brown people dollars, and yet they remain quiet in the face of this assault on our voting rights assault and democracy. >> i want to talk
