the democratic party in arizona filed a lawsuit yesterday to try to stop this from going forward in arizona. they said the whole enterprise was illegal. today the judge in the case agreed to pause the audit over the weekend while the merits of their lawsuit were considered but that pause came with an odd price tag. the judge told the arizona democratic party that if the audit was going to be paused, the democratic party in the state would have to pay $1 million to cover any costs associated with the delay. the cyber ninja ceo running the audit up until now has refused to say how much the audit will cost in total. the controversy of the audit is he's not only taking taxpayer money to do it, he's also taking private donations from undeclared sources to carry this out, which means trump supporters could be paying for this cyber ninjas company to run a recount on whether or not trump won the election. somehow the judge in this case decided that a delay would cost the cyber ninja company upwards of $1 million and arizona democrats had to indemnify them for that. the democrats refused to do that

so, how is the result in arizona not deterring them? >> well, because this is now part of the fabric of trumpism, and we know he still controls much of the party, if not all of it, and his endorsement matters, which is what we'll see in georgia tonight. so you see people follow trump's playbook, and they're going to do this in other states but i would also suggest -- >> does his endorsement matter? we're going to see him rallying for people in georgia but haven't we already seen some of the candidates that he has endorsed in primaries lose? >> it can either win elections or it causes the party to lose, true, but he has not been replaced. we have not seen the emergence of a desantis or somebody else that steps forward that has greater control than donald trump. but very importantly, i think this also empowers democrats' agenda. there's a corollary here on the voting protection bill in washington, d.c., because an individual's right to vote is a federal right, but we trust our states to administer the elections and that right, and so wash

joining us now is arizona secretary of state katie hobbs, she is also running for governor of arizona. secretary hobbs, thank you for coming to the last word. you are off his head observers watching the audit. what do you expect to be in the report? >> well, nothing good is going to be in the report in terms of actual validating of the election results. and we know that based on the observations that were made and all of the information that we compiled to put together our report, that shows what a circus this really was. and it is characterized by security lapses, lack of transparency and just overall poor planning, and no use of best practices that you would see in a close election audit. >> steven records report shows that there's at least one reasonable republican in the leadership position in arizona. do you think most republicans buy into the big lie or are they staying staying silent? >> i think that for the most part, they are either on the side of the big lie or they are staying silent because they have too often seen the political consequences. and that's really unfortunate
