pat toomey is retiring, which means this is the democrats' best chance to make gains in the senate. lieutenant governor john fetorman currently leads the race against congressman connor lam, malcolm kenyatta and alex khalil. did fetterman's stroke change the calculus for voters? and what about the black vote? his opponents insist black voters haven't been adequately polled. on the right, there are seven candidates looming over all of them is donald trump. one in three gop ads aired here mentioned donald trump. and as charlie matthiasson put it, there are few states as deeply infect by donald trump's election fraud lie. the gop leaders are mehmet oz, cathy barnett and dave mccormick. trump picked oz, but there's concern trump picked wrong. laura ingram went to call the endorsement a mistake. that might be because cathy barnett is being heralded as the opponent most like donald trump. she saw a last-minute surge in the polls. she's most like trump but the party isn't thrilled. we'll get to why in a moment, and why those same folks are very worried, if not angry about the race here. th

toomey senate candidate. but it going to be difficult with a guy like mastriano mucking up the works. >> other than mastriano, who ran unopposed, it seems like in pennsylvania and other states being a centrist is not exactly a good thing, at least not in the primaries in the democratic party. what do you make of that? >> i want to follow up because i think mark makes an excellent point. whether it's oz or mccormick, this is first time statewide candidates, first time candidates of any time. the problem with mastriano is he activates the trump voters. so do you appear at rallies with mastriano, do you appear at fund-raisers and state party events? if it had been 20 years ago, i would have said, well, pennsylvania elects some republican governors and republican and democratic senators, it could be enough tickets that they could get the senate seat and lose the governorship. that doesn't happen very often in this day and age. i think mark's analysis up front on this is probably the biggest story out of election
