santa clara county sees 15% of the patients in the region. in the last six months it has been responsible for more than 20% of all testing. kaiser sees 31% of the region's patients but provides just 12% of testing. while the palo alto medical foundation or center health sees more than 16% of county patients it only accounts for just 2% of covid testing. glaring numbers there. we've been tracking the story through the day. when you reached out to kaiser or center health what is their response? >> reporter: well, that is so astonishing and shocking a lot of people across santa clara county. both kaiser and sutter issued statements late this afternoon. they both basically said the same thing that the surge in omicron is causing really a delay in getting these covid tests processed and scheduled but the burden is falling on santa clara county. kaiser permanente said they're processing 20,000 tests per day in northern california and still administering 80,000 vaccinations each week also in northern california. the other agency also said the same t

today was much different in santa cruz than back in 2011. that was when a massive earthquake off the coast of japan generated a tsunami in california. it caused $20 million worth of damage to the harbor. despite warnings to stay out of the water, emergency crews were kept busy. two surfers had to be rescued. one of their boards boat -- broke because the waves were so powerful. they are expected to be ok. two fishermen were swept into the water at san gregorio state beach. they were able to swim back to shore. more than one hundred people were evacuated from the brooklyn marina. police say the evacuation was limited to the docks and boats along the shoreline. roads near the marina remained open. authorities got the all clear from emergency services at 3:50 this afternoon. everyone is urged to use caution on boats and docks. for more on this let's get to spencer christian. we have been saying this all evening. probably not a great idea to get on the water. spencer: let me give you a closer look. this is very important information. this is a sn

over to santa cruz comeau where tsunami waves arrived in the pulses and flooded the santa cruz harbor and parking lot. ryan curry joins us from the harbor. what can you tell us? ryan: good evening. many santa cruz residents started the day very concerned over the incoming tsunami threat. water rose to cautious levels in some areas, especially near the santa cruz harbor. as the day went on, many residents and their concerns were eased. santa cruz residents on high alert saturday. >> we were watching the water push the lower deck on the waterfront, and the wharf was really moving. cornell: edward martinez was out monitoring the water levels in the morning. he initially did nothing the tsunami warning was much of a problem, but he says the water level kept rising, especially toward the harbor, causing him some concern. >> we were like, maybe this is a big deal. we were looking out towards the beach. you can see the plume behind me. all of a sudden, it disappeared and of the water kept going up and up and up. cornell: all day long, coast guard crews patrolled the beach to patrol the water

also days, the santa clara county sheriff laurie smith. she was in court today to answer corruption and misconduct charges. the san francisco's district attorney's office is handling the case because of a conflict of interest. it's not the santa clara county civil grand jury. 3 of the charges center on claims that the sheriff you legally granted licenses for concealed carry weapon permits to people who either contributed to her campaign or prominent in the community. there are 3 other charges. the focus on the san jose sharks came that the sheriff that ended in february of 2019 she allegedly received free suite tickets and food and drinks which exceeded the $500 gift limit. court documents also say she failed disclose those gifts, the 7th cap that she faces accuses her of failing to cooperate with an ongoing investigation surrounding the treatment of an inmate. smith has been in office for 23 years. many city and county leaders are now calling on her to step down. smith is expected to be back in court on march. 15th for a status hearing. o
