jeff ranieri with us. pay attention, you got green coming. >> two different storms, raj. the one late tonight and as we head through tomorrow morning, another one next monday and tuesday. let's get you the latest on that. you can see we have storm ranger scanning right now. it's dry across the bay area but seeing rainfall off to the north and eventually back down towards us. at 11:30 tonight, rain and then this pushes over the east bay and peninsula. about 3:00 in the morning you can see the trend. this really starts to break up as it moves off towards the south. so for the morning tomorrow, we're starting cloudy. i think we're really on the dry side of things and tomorrow afternoon sunshine. this storm system no problem at all. we'll be able to deal with it just fine. totals on the lower side trace amounts to about a quarter of an inch. better bet of a quarter of an inch in the north bay. my forecast tomorrow cooling off anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees will put us back into the 60s. on my seven-day forecast, monday and tuesday rain and .75 and so still getting the rainfal

jeff ranieri is here. 3.9 and no big deal, but it was -- it kind of jolted a lot of people today. >> yeah. and the reason why a lot of you felt it and seems maybe stronger than the number we were seeing is because it was so shallow, just 6 miles below the earth. so when that hit it gave everybody a pretty big jolt across the bay. >> san ramon, how active is this area? >> this area can be active on the northern fault, but it's usually the southern end of the fault that sees the most activity. we haven't seen anything over the past 2 hours, and magnitude 2.5 and larger we've seen at least three of those, 2.5 and larger with the largest being a 3.0 magnitude. we've had the activity. it seems like things are quiet right now, but of course we'll have to watch out for this a couple of days. >> yeah, you're following all these various faults right around here as well. >> exactly. let me show you more about the fault because usually we talk about hayward, we hear a lot about the sleeper fault, also the san andreas fault. this has had more notable earthquakes. back in 2007 in october we had a

. >>> one of the goals of the summit, we hear so much about this, jeff ranieri is with us now, is stopping our emissions so we can slow the global warming. what does that really mean? we talk so much about this, and sometimes it just comes at us. but what does it mean in layman's terms? >> there are so many different numbers being thrown around. you're read thing article or that article, and it gets confusing. so i wanted to start at the base of everything and what we have been dealing with. the global temperature has warmed 1 degree celsius since 1880. you change the global temperature just a little bit, and you're talking about drastic impacts to the ecosystems. 2/3 of that warming has happened since 1975. now, some other numbers that we have been hearing about is five degrees celsius. so with no emission cuts at all, if we keep things the way they are now, we can see things warm up five degrees celsius, which would be catastrophic on many different levels with the ecosystems, with the weather patterns. but they're getting stricter this year, at this climate summit. so they're trying to

let's bring in our chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. we are getting the rain and not as much damage, right, as we saw a couple of weeks ago? >> exactly. it really has a lot to do with the speed of the storm system. this afternoon this really started to speed up, so it is limiting any kind of flooding concerns. so overall beneficial we are getting the much-needed rainfall and not seeing too many damage reports, although the winds have been gusting to about 50 miles per hour. some of our highest peaks, so i know, yes, in fact you have been dealing with a lot of the wind. right here across the north bay we've seen about a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rain so far. that's where some of the highest totals have been coming in from. you can see the yellow showing up on the radar, it is some of the heavier pockets. let's put a track on it. through the north bay heavy rain continuing through san rafael. vallejo, to you by 10:43. san francisco, all a batch here of heavy rain continuing through the next 15 to 20 minutes. it will make it
