in the bay area. this 1000 square foot, three bedroom, one bath home in richmond was listed for $500,000 and ended up selling for 650,000. this 900 square foot three bed. one bath home in richmond was listed originally for 488,000 and sold for 511,800 miles away in kansas city. this 4600 square foot house with five bedrooms and five bathrooms in moving ready condition sold for $403,000 in austin, texas, this 1400 square foot house with three bedrooms and two baths. on a large lot is listed for $499,000. in boise, idaho. this 2200 square foot home is listed for 499,000 with 2.5 baths in a residential track neighborhood. back here in the bay area. even the list price isn't what you'll most likely buy it for the san francisco bay area leads the country in homes sold over the asking price. 7.5% of homes sold for 30% or more above the first list price in the first quarter of 2021, according to online real estate marketplace zillow. as much as stories of people leaving are becoming common. real estate exper

so it's aimed right at the bay area. once we hit sunday night, and then it would continue into monday morning, and that's when we would see those rainfall totals add up. now, we are still several days out from this happening. but right now based on what we know, we'd see widespread rain a half to 2 1/2 inches. everyone is saying, okay, that's a big wide ranging amount of totals. that's because some of our valleys will be rain shadowed. we'll see a lot of the mountains, especially in the coast to the north bay take away a lot of that moisture so it's not going to leave as much for the valleys, especially potentially down towards the south bay. but everybody is going to get in on that rainfall. i think by monday morning we could see the chance of isolated street flooding. >> this is a tough questions because i know it's a broad question. >> yes. >> in terms of our fire danger and the drought, how much of an impact is having something like this really make? >> well, if we get that 2 1/2, maybe even higher amount of rainfall

nbc bay area's sergio quintana is in santa rosa. helps with fire season but huge issues with the burn areas. >> reporter: here in santa rosa in this particular neighborhood, glass fire destroyed a few homes coming, santa rosa fire department is switching from wildfire watch to being on the alert for possibility of potentially treacherous runoff in burn scar areas like this. today's rain in santa rosa and much of the north bay is exactly what fire authorities have been hoping for. it's been steady, even misty most of the day. santa rosa deputy fire chief says will be a big deal. >> looking at how much rain and what weekend is looking like, hoping to officially declare the end of fire season locally. >> reporter: switching gears to stormy season. pu station is already set up to shore up homes. downpour just right, but cautious eye on sunday. >> glad to see the rain, not thrilled about the level of intensity and that much rain. especially in burn scars. >> reporter: series of storms have pg&e on alert. there have been a few power outag

and at least a couple degrees through inland parts of the bay area. upper 50s and low 60s along the coast already tuesday afternoon. low to mid 70s down the peninsula and around the south end of the bay, warmer in the center clara valley. clouds will not be quite a stick or quite as widespread. you the upper 70s in san jose and a few spots about 80 degrees mid and upper 70s by the tri-valley with warmest spots inland just a couple of degrees above 80 instead of the widespread 90s over the past few days. mid-60s and sentences go, mid and upper 50s through the east bay, clouds will be thicker and widespread for the northbay. temperatures there are only warming up to the low and mid 70s. approaching 80 degrees for inland mendocino county. the cooldown starts tomorrow but we don't reach lowest high temperatures until the end of the workweek on friday. those readings could be a good 10 to 12 degrees below normal for a bit of a warm-up that kicks in over the weekend. sunday will be the warmer and sunnier half of the weekend, but even the warmest spots on th

we are dealing with wind advisories on most bay area bridges. bay bridge, golden gate bridge as well. i will zoom in on 880 and you see we are tracking brake lights along 880. we have one accident north of fremont. in the fremont area 880 both directions still shut down due to flooding, standing water. there is a lot of that on major freeways, parts of 101 as you head into the city. we saw flooding there. keep in mind traffic lights are out in certain areas so if you are pulling up to an intersection where the traffic light is out, treat it as a four way stop. expect a lot of puddling, standing water, and wet weather as you hit the roads. not a lot of cars but we are tracking brake lights along the nimitz freeway, 880. let's check in with justin andrews. he is on 880 in fremont. look at the back up behind you. >> reporter: absolutely. we are on south bound 880. we couldn't even get to the flooded area because of all the traffic. it is backed up and goes for miles. 880 as you mentioned it shut down between thornton and i believe mallory avenues n

the rest of the bay area. heavier rain during the early wednesday morning hours. then light spotty showers lingering into wednesday and possibly on and off rain through the end of the week. as far as the rainfall totals, it shows some of the models could maybe put down an inch of rain in parts of the north bay. also for mill valley, maybe a quarter inch of rain. this would be great for us if it pans out. also the models are showing very high amounts of snow going toward the end of the month for the sierra. we could see possibly a couple feet or more in some of our upper elevations, a lot of our ski resorts, and this would be a nice and early start to our ski season. our temperatures are going to stay nice and cool, only coming up to the low 70s to the inland areas on thursday, and that's in between the showers falling. looks like we will see off and on rain through thursday and friday, and then maybe another round of rain coming in on sunday. this won't bust the drought but could put an end to the wildfire sea

the bay area, the rain not that far away. you see it rolling in to northern california to begin with those storms start to really get themselves together. now and some of the beginning to make its way into the north. and how about that doppler radar picking up some moderate to some heavier amounts of rainfall in northern sonoma county and all this is going to be spreading to the south throughout the night and it's tomorrow morning and then we're going to really just kind of keep things going. here's our long-range forecast and this was really impressive. this first storm system coming through tonight going to kind of stall out over the bay area, at least the flow is going to stall out of the bay area. that means we'll see all this moisture continue to work its way through our skies. so even as the main cold front begins to dissipate. we've got all that moisture that continues to pummel right to the bay area bringing more rain on and off through wednesday and thursday. you can see these waves of energy, they'll be breaks in be

hospitalizations are going down across the bay area. you can see the chart right here, it shows hospitalizations in santa clara, as an example, which shows their hospitalizations dropping steadily for a few weeks now. finally, 80% of the area's population, including kids must be fully vaccinated. however, if a county is not yet at 80% and this is eight weeks after a vaccine for kids is approved, health officers say they will drop the mask rules as well as the other requirements are met. this doctor says it makes sense. >> i think we're in the right direction. we're not going to be turning back. >> reporter: yesterday, the alameda county office of education pointed out the new criteria do not apply to mask indoors in the schools, and the state is supposed to review its mask mandate for students before the end of the month. bob redell, today in the bay. >>> the mayor's office announced yesterday restrictions will be lifted inside offices, gyms, religious gatherings and college classrooms. the new rules will not apply to places unvaccinate

officials from the world cup organization fifa are in the bay area today. they are considering levi stadium as a possible host city for the soccer games in 2026. and bay area politicians and businesses are clammerring to make their case. world cup will be hosted across 16 cities in north america. right now 22 are under consideration. during their visit today and tomorrow fifa officials will tour levi stadium and assess the bay area to see if it is a good choice for hosting huge influx of soccer fans. 49ers are a big part of this. their president sent a statement saying we are honored to be leading the bay area's bid to host the exciting crowd drawing event. levi is a world class venue that has shown it is capable of hosting premiere national events and we would be a perfect stage for the 2026 world cup. fifa officials are holding a press event. we'll be covering it for you and names of winning host cities are said to be announced early next year. >> thank you. >>> one bay area county is breaching a levee on purpose. it is part of the restoration of the mars

bay. the napa hills there, right above that area. you're looking at some very strong gusty winds continuing those winds likely to diminish a little bit overnight, but not by much still very dangerous dry conditions out there and humidity levels dropping down the teens in some places now looks like they'll be a secondary in polls of some stronger winds. so that was way back off a little bit overnight tonight only to really pick back up again, right around 1011, o'clock tomorrow morning. so don't let your guard down too early. these winds are going to last for a good part of the day tomorrow. and then i think by late tomorrow afternoon, all of us and those winds begin to subside. maybe a little bit more of the sea breeze develops down below. so that would be some good news. but fire danger. one running high. here is fire forecast model and you can see around the bay area. we've got some very areas shaded in the orange already. and that is some very high fire danger around the oakland hills. you can see some of those spots there you can

this is the view from nbc bay area skyranger looking down on hemme avenue. eight-inch water line broke. it looked like a hot cauldron of boiling water as it gushed from underneath the street. it was like that for about nine hours until just before 10:00 this morning. east bay mud, which owns the lines, had trouble identifying which valves to shut off. one was difficult to access because it was under water due to this line break. it turns out that valve turning that valve wasn't enough to turn off the water so workers had to find another valve further from the line break. so right now we know at least 182 customers are without service but there could be more. we just don't have that number yet because they had to go find that other valve. a preschool next door was not flooded but they did cancel class today. we believe an elementary school nearby also canceled classes because of limited access to the school. most water did divert into a storm drain. some poured onto a private property. the woman who lived there ordered a bunch of sandbags to minimize the dama
