bob moved to san francisco. after five years with the securities and exchange commission where he worked on combating pyramid schemes, for the next 45 years, bob and art went on to build their firm and to premier mid size law firms. bob also quickly fell in love with his chosen city of san francisco. for over a deck, bob -- decade bob led the organization san francisco beautiful to preserve city natural beauty. bob was as patron and lover of the arts. he attended in support of the san francisco symphony, the opera and many of our museums. he was well-known for his love in outspoken advocacy. in 1988, bob and his wife purchased a home in sonoma where he and his family would plant trees and explore the region's natural beauty. bob could be found at the presidio ymca playing pick-up basketball well into his 70s. in 2016, bob was diagnosed with alzheimer's disease. in the years following bob cared for his wife chandra. he is survived by his three children bob lived life to the fullest. he will be remembered for his

so here i am introducing an ordinance that sets san francisco out -- gets san francisco out of the fossil fuel business permanently by striking the planning code article 12 from our planning -- by striking the planning code article 12. article 12 of the planning code set zoning controls and permitting frame work for land use activities associated with oil and gas exploration, development and processing. it also create over districts to regulate heavy industrial oil and gas support in processing facilities. so in san francisco, we pride ourselves as an environmental leader and while most of us may not have realized this section existed in the planning code and this section of our code may have set collecting dust for decades. it is important that in the face of the catastrophic impact of climate change, we make this long needed commitment to prohibit any task and oil business activities in san francisco and on our public lands. meanwhile, i'm also a proud cosponsor to supervisor preston's resolution urging the sfmta for restoration service. really, colleagues, you know, we're having a deba

when i moved to san francisco in 1990, some things opened up. i saw women doing things they hadn't been doing when i was growing up. one thing was firefighting. a woman recruited me at the gay-pride parade in 1991. it was a perfect fit. i liked using my brain, body, working as a team, figuring things out, troubleshooting and coming up with different ways to solve a problem. in terms of coming in after another female chief, i don't think anybody says that about men. you are coming in after another man, chief, what is that like. i understand why it is asked. it is unusual to have a woman in this position. i think san francisco is a trailblazer in that way in terms of showing the world what can happen and what other people who may not look like what you think the fire chief should look like how they can be successful. be asked me about being the first lbgq i have an understands because there are little queer kids that see me. i worked my way up. i came in january of 1994. i built relationships over the years, and i spent 24 years in the field, as w

san francisco for decades. today's announcement for putting more officers in high-tourist areas, do you see that making a difference? >> we're talking about public safety or public relations. let's look at the public safety as peblth. 26 officers on foot and it's not necessarily going to have a great impact. second of all they'll put ambassadors out there who are invested people and assisting people and giving a presence. what effect it might may make people feel safer for tourists and those thinking of coming. you might be safe walking up and down fisherman's wharf but if you come back and your car has been broken into, that's a different story. how do the police and merchants say the break-ins occur and gangs operate. >> breaking into a car can take 5 to 7 seconds. a witness said my car was broken in and that's the amount of time police officers have to respond, 5 to 7 seconds and you can can't have police officers in every corner in san francisco. even when they catch them, many officers know who the suspect

or something from san francisco. to build the hetchy reservoir and just think about it. this is what we're doing and of you go to any of the city you won't drink it out of san francisco. it's because the investments were made for better future to make sure that we had a reliable source of water that was clean and good. that's what we're doing here today. we're asking the california public utilities to assess the assets, the power grid that provides power to san francisco because we have made, what essential, was a fair offer to pg&e to purchase those so we can control our own power here in san francisco and this is an important step towards a future, a future where just recently the board of supervisors voted to approve a more ambitious and i want to thank them and our plan to move aggressive and through the public utilities providing 100% renewable energy by 2025 and everyone in san francisco having access to renewable having control of the distribution of power. we've proven that we can manage the system and we hav
