mr. davis: well, i appreciate your comments. you actually answered my next question about how strong organic standards translate into better resiliency. but we all know the demand for organic products is going to increase in areas mostly where they don't grow organic products or nonorganic products. and due to this increased demand, i know that many that are in your position are worried about foreign products that may come into our country that do not even come close to meeting the organic label standards that are put in place. can you offer just your thoughts on some of those concerns, if you have them? ms. cooper: sure. we face that, certainly, because there's not a lot of organic production here. there's just the limited supply. the difference in that supply is coming from international markets that typically can offer things at a cheaper price. and so then those efforts here locally, you know, it can be hard to compete with that. and so, of course, we -- not even specific to georgia or the southeast, just in general, the nat

i want to follow up on something mr. davis touched on and mr. coach nelly was touching on regarding the voting rights act of 1965. that was an important piece of legislation. it fell within the lines of what the courts in the constitution and our founders intended, the qualification of electors. in other words, who can vote? that is something within the federal purview. we were very clear that the times, places and manner it was to be interpreted literally. that was reserved for the states. the voting rights act of 1965, as my colleagues have cited was about the electors who can vote. that is in the constitution, that is a federal issue. the rest is reserved to the states. something that mr. raskin brought up, the role social media has played in disinformation, maybe that could be some of the explanations why the current president of the united states spread false information about george's election law. i do think it is -- george's election law. i think i think it is imperative we follow election law, not just emotions. we've experienced what c

anthony davis thank you, mr. speaker. i thank -- mr. davis: thank you, mr. speaker. i thank the rules and appropriations committee for bringing my amendment to the floor. my amendment increases funding for the national institute of food and agriculture, life and research and education activities account by $2 million, by decreasing the agriculture building and facilities account. i'm pleased that my colleague, bobby rush, co-leads this amendment with me. the goal of the amendment is to increase funding for the multicultural scholars program designed to increase the diversity of the food and agriculture, scientific and professional work force. currently the multicultural scholars program received only about $945,000 a year. this level of funding is critically low, given the current racial ethnicity gaps in food and agriculture sciences and given the fact that communities of color were disproportionately harmed by the dual economic and health crisis in our country. for example, even though people of color represent nearly 1/4 of the u.s. population, farmers of color co
