let me show you something that latosha brown from black voters matter said, focusing in on one of the impediments to federal legislation. >> the first thing that we need is we actually have a solution on the table right now, for the people act. in order to get that, we've seen that the republicans have not been acting in any way that they wanted -- matter of fact, they've been open about their obstructionism. we have to end the filibuster. i have not heard the president take a hard stand around ending the filibuster on this particular issue, because what we know, what we have seen come from the courts with the decision, what we've seen with the state legislatures is we need federal legislation to protect the right of citizens to vote in this country, and we've given the democrats -- they have control of the house, the senate and the white house. so we need to end the filibuster. they're going to have to end the filibuster specifically so that they can pass this legislation. i don't see any other way around it. >> donna edwards, she is absolutely right, both on the ability to stop thes

you might recognize on the right there, in the black voters matter voter, latosha brown who has been a guest on our show a number of times. turns out she has amazing pipes, just a beautiful voice. they made their way to the center of the building. they kept singing. clapped. they asked the senate to act to protect voting rights. capitol police officers started warning them over a megaphone that they were all about to be arrested if they didn't stop. as you can tell, their voices droned them out. that's right about the time the singing turned into chanting. you can hear them saying, end the filibuster. end the filibuster. there's all those police officers waiting in the wings. you know what's coming. congresswoman beatty started a chant of pass the for the people act. pass the for the people act, and you see that police officer off to the side readying the zip ties. that is when the arrests started. congresswoman beatty was the first one arrested. as her hands were being put in zip ties, she started one more chant. she said fight for justice. congresswoman beatty and eight others arre

. >>> so let's get some black voters matter cofounder reaction to that, latosha brown joins us once again. it's always good to see you. so you along with other black women leaders, you met with vice president harris yesterday concerning voting rights. tell us about the meeting and was anything promised? what do you think was accomplished by it? >> i think there was a promise, we had the opportunity to really be able to listen to and learn more about what the vice president has been doing in regards to really pushing this voting legislation, voting rights legislation. she shared with us how she met with senators immediately after the vote, the initial vote on the voting rights act, on the -- for the people act, i'm sorry. she was able to meet with many congress people and senators and continue to be engaged in conversations. she also talked about how she was using, you know, her role in terms of leaning on this issue of getting agencies to enter agencies within the administration to actually make this a priority. that she also had reached out to community groups and organizations and advoc
