joining me now, ryan riley, senior justice reporter for the huffington post and jill wine-banks, msnbc contributorer and the co-host of the sisters in law podcast. she didn't like, "the washington post" says prosecutors are asking for 18 months for one count of obstructing congress. what kind of precedent will this case set, especially for defendants facing conspiracy or assault charges? >> given the number of cases that are pending, we're talking hundreds of people who have been arrested and will be charged. even the first one means that it is a precedent-setting thing. jail seems to be necessary. not just to send a message to all the other potential insurrectionists, but to keep us safe in the short term. so i think that 18 months seems like a very fair and actually lenient sentence. these are felonies that could end up causing someone to be found incarceratable for up to three to five years. the misdemeanors of course will be lesser penalties. but 18 months seems to be within the sentencing guidelines and is a good thing for the prosecutors to be asking for, to protect all of us hav

this bill "huffington post" epa -- help epa tackle pfas while setting a reasonable timeline to study and evaluate other pfass. this tailors testing to relevant subgroups much pfas. mr. speaker, over a decade ago, pfoa and pfos were phased out by industry. they continue to threaten public health because of widespread environmental contamination. this bill would drive environmental cleanups of that contamination and drinking water treatment, addressing the threat of pfoa and pfos to communities across the country. while other pfass will be tested as appropriate and that testing reveals risk this will bill ensures epa takes time to mitigate contamination. this bill will pause the introduction of new pfas while providing guidance to help first responders and consumers limit their risk. mr. speaker, the longer we delay action on pfas, the worse the problem becomes. it's time for congress to act and use every tool available to stop the flow of pfas pollution into our environment and into our bodies. a version of this bill was passed overwhelmingly last congress with significant bipartisan
