these are kaiser, san francisco, ucsf and zuckerberg san francisco general. so with these eight hospitals together, d.p.h. is more able to accurately capture citywide trends. with regards to the notification requirements, every other year d.p.h. staff visit each hospital to conduct a review of the facilities compliance with the requirements. the next onsite review was to take place in 2020, but to reduce risks associated with covid, the review was conducted electronically. all were found to be compliant. so before i dive into the report, i wanted to highlight some of the events that have occurred since the passage of the ordinance that have impacted charities in san francisco. in 2011, the healthy san francisco program was started. this is the city's health access program that provided uninsured residents access. in 2010, the affordable care act was passed. in 2014, u.c.a. implementation began, and, since then, we have observed an increase through the medical expansion and through covered california. this has been highlighted in previous reports. from 2017 to

i grew up in san francisco. a place for all prioritized needs to house people over the needs of the most vulnerable people to have space and decent housing. if the needs of unhoused people were put first, we'd be looking for ways to get people out of homelessness. when we passed prop c our city our home in 2018, san francisco's voters chose to double the city's investment in solving homelessness and to spend 50% of investment on housing. in 2020, they doubled down bypassing prop k allowing san francisco to build or require up to 10,000 units of affordable housing. voters have made it clear, they want the city to invest in permanent housing. choosing to invest instead ignores the will of the voters. shelter for all and the availability of shelter beds are used as a justification to criminalize through a loophole in martin versus boise. this would also prevent solutions. but it will also give the city even more freedom to police and displace people living on the streets. we don't need another level of justificatio

so what inspired you to create a uniquely san francisco font? >> i love san francisco. i love san francisco's history, and i love the built environment history. i love things that are part of the built environment that maybe you don't notice, but that inform your sense of the place. i did some research on the san francisco street signs, i'd love them since i moved to the city, that sort of iconic black on white big rectangle. and as i was doing the research, going back to the 40s and 50s, i realized there was a brief period of time when the san francisco sign shop was making signs using this unusual typeface, that seemed to be kind of a custom thing they cooked up, and not like an official federal standard. and i liked it a lot. so i thought, why should, i should revive this. i should reconstruct it, if i can. >> by the way,, what you are looking at there, that is the typeface, that is the font, showing some typical san francisco words, if you will, escape from alcatraz. described that, like what is the look and feel you were going for? i know you said you kind of want

i'm eric brooks and i am with san francisco clean energy alliance and with our city san francisco and californians for energy choice. so, welcome to the commission commissioner chan, it's great to see you on board. i want to bring you up to speak on what we have been saying at various lafco meetings as community advocates. that's is that my clients have done a good job of reliably launching the cleanpowersf program, but i and others like me have been working on this since 2004, for 17 years and since 2004, we have been specifically seeking a local build out of clean energy for all energy needs to come from the local and regional area in the bay area. what we need is to get the local bay area self resilient so in the case of a blackout caused by wildfires or sun spots, we are reliable not to depend on the old 20th century grid and the jobs benefits are crucial. so what we have come to realize recently, over the last couple of years, san francisco public utilities commission is an enterprise agency that cannot do that. that's why they haven't done it. they're like amtrak -- >> thank you

, and stay right here in san francisco. sf made really provides wraparound resources for manufacturers that sets us apart from other small business support organizations who provide more generalized support. everything we do has really been developed over time by listening and thinking about what manufacturer needs grow. for example, it would be traditional things like helping them find capital, provide assistance loans, help to provide small business owners with education. we have had some great experience doing what you might call pop ups or temporary selling events, and maybe the most recent example was one that we did as part of sf made week in partnership with the city seas partnership with small business, creating a 100 company selling day right here at city hall, in partnership with mayor lee and the board of supervisors, and it was just a wonderful opportunity for many of our smaller manufacturers who may be one or two-person shop, and who don't have the wherewithal to have their own dedicated retail store to show t

these are kaiser, san francisco, ucsf and zuckerberg san francisco general. so with these eight hospitals together, d.p.h. is more able to accurately capture citywide trends. with regards to the notification requirements, every other year d.p.h. staff visit each hospital to conduct a review of the facilities compliance with the requirements. the next onsite review was to take place in 2020, but to reduce risks associated with covid, the review was conducted electronically. all were found to be compliant. so before i dive into the report, i wanted to highlight some of the events that have occurred since the passage of the ordinance that have impacted charities in san francisco. in 2011, the healthy san francisco program was started. this is the city's health access program that provided uninsured residents access. in 2010, the affordable care act was passed. in 2014, u.c.a. implementation began, and, since then, we have observed an increase through the medical expansion and through covered california. this has been highlighted in previous reports. from 2017 to

in the san francisco area. however, the city's cost of doing business has increased the last two years over the city's c.p.i. taken together, the city appears to be getting closer to meeting the increased needs of nonprofits given the m.c.o. and other costs. similar to the m.c.o. increases, the cost of doing business allocations must be approved by the board through the annual budgeting process. a few nonprofits that we spoke with expressed challenges with that given that it can be hard to know what the budgets will be and adjust spending appropriately. this may come at the expense of the mayor and board being able to determine such amounts during the annual budget process. once the budget is approved by the board and mayor, departments apply the cost of doing business increases to their nonprofit contractors. exhibit 7 on page 16 of our report summarizes the varying policies for how the four departments we interviewed allocates the cost of doing business increases. generally, the fund is only applied to genera
