how bad are we looking bay area wide right now? >> that depends where you are but the entire bay area is classified as being in drought conditions. we got the newest update from the u.s. that monitor today. the only major change from the update last week is that the santa cruz mountains and now instead of being classified as abnormally dry are also in moderate drought conditions. that is for the southern half and along the coast and you get into this transitions that just zone. and then extreme drought the farther north you go. there is another category called exceptional drought, fortunately we don't have that on the map at this point but as we head into the driest time of year that certainly is possible that we are going to reach that threshold and we have been in drought conditions across the bay area for more than a year. this is a map from climate central with whom we partner to show you the impact of climate change both around the bay area and across the country and look how much of the western u.s. the red shaded areas inclu
