about 100 miles east of oklahoma city. we asked john beaver to give us a tour of their national historic council house. >> hi, welcome to the creek nation council house. the building you're in your right here, this building here served as the creek nation national capital from 1878 until 1907. prior to 1878, there was a two story lag cabinet that sat on this -- that served as our national capital building, until this one was constructed in 1878. we were actually a removed tribe here to indian territory, we began the removals year is starting in 1829 and they sort of culminated in a large -- and the summer and fall months of 1836, with our arrival here to indian territory, late december of 1836, and throughout january of 1837, we arrived at fort gibson in this indian territory. for about 20 years or so, an about 1840, prior to saddling here or placing the capital here, we met as a grand council of our tribal towns until around 1861. and then after 1861, of course that's the year of the civil war for the united states and pr
