>> kari, we had a couple of issues. a crash over here approaching the merge of 580, that's westbound 80 through richmond. looks like everything's off to the shoulder. you may have your slow lane affected by the crew bewe see minor slowing, recovery from an earlier slowdown and approaching the caldecott. not a major issue. the traffic alert for a few short minutes here, head south, all the minutes are the same length. in any case southbound 242 recovering from earlier closures. those lanes are all open after a brush fire alongside 242. it is still jammed through the area. so you want to probably take highway 4 over here and take 680 down, it's a little bit farther than folks do. we like the cut-through but the corner is the better route today and better issue but no problems for contra costa county outside from the earlier fire, a smooth flow of the earlier fire, 580 has also been cleared out of the altamont pass and looking at the crash i told you i'd check that out at the bottom of your screen, it's southbound 85, so t

nice day out, kari? >> it's going to be a beautiful day. we'll see mostly sunny skies, starting out with upper 50s and low 60s as you head out the door and then seeing those temperatures warming up. here is a live look in san jose, as we approach sunrise now, we'll be in the upper 50s, and then in the upper 70s. not a bad one. we're going to also have still some slightly cooler than normal weather in the south bay, and seasonable weather for the rest of the bay area. we'll talk about our fourth of july forecast, and mike, it's not your typical tuesday. >> kari, i was checking to make sure there was nothing going on approaching the bay bridge. we just in the last few minutes, three minutes i'd say saw a big lightening here on the left

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking what we can expect. another cool day? a cool start. >> a bigger cooldown and compared to the hot weekend across the bay area, that's a live look in san jose as the sun comes up. we have a clear start headed to sunnyvale. we'll stay in the 70s throughout early afternoon and it will be a little bit cooler than our normal high, so it's nice to get a refreshing start to the work week. south bay temperatures reaching the low 80s, some of our inland east bay valleys reaching into the upper 80s and as with you get out the door this morning, it has already backed up at the bay bridge toll plaza. they turned the metering lights on earlier this morning so you can see the back yum. as we look at the maps, we are going to see the rest of the bay area flowing fairly good. as we get out the door a lot of green sewn sores. a couple of issues, coming into the bay area from san joaquin valley. we are seeing a big rig crash on westbound 580 that may cause delays for the next couple of hours as they try to clean up a fuel leak. if you know

>> that's right, kari. we continue over this in the east bay, where sky ranger has arrived overhead. look at what's going on, north 880 at just shy of 92, around tennison, we have folks spraying off what looks like some treatment for a fire that was reported, a car fire, major fire engulfed in flame and we see some skid marks as well. i think they dragged the vehicle off perhaps off of the roadway. so now the crews are trying desperately to clear the roadways but i don't know. there may be some damage to that pavement. we'll check on that and follow this. right now we only have one lane open northbound because of this and all the lights and distraction and the previous smoke. you see both southbound and northbound 880 are jammed up at tennison or toward tennison, that say problem. less of a problem because from fremont there's not as much a drive toward the san mateo bridge. folks can get over toward the dumbarton bridge, but southbound that is your big build coming out of the san leandro, out of castro val

how much of a warmup today, car kari? >> a slight cooldown with the clouds from the coast toward the golden gate bridge, it is all covered in fog and low clouds right now. meanwhile, you head inland, it is beautiful and sunny, temperatures warming up, sunol at 76 degrees. we head over to palo alto, feeling a cool breeze, and our highs there will reach into the low 80s. we'll hit that high right about 1:00, and hold steady, as we go into early afternoon. cool down fairly quickly as the winds pick up. the high in the south bay reaching 83. antioch expect a high of 88. some of our inland valleys pretty warm despite the cool tempmoonerurbay. going through the forecast, it does get slightly warmer for the weekend. i'll take about that and weekend events as you make plans. in a few minutes. >>> a brazen crew of beauty band its. in the latest strike, they swiped more than $4,000 worth of cosmetics and per fuse. kris sanchez joins us from morgan hill. police say they're closing in. >> reporter: just on tuesday that crew of fiv wo

kari, you mentioned the winds. we don't have winds today which is a good thing. >> it is good for now but we'll start to see winds picking up throughout the day. so it could spread more of the fire up the hill because we'll have a westerly wind picking up throughout theay but we've seen this area catch on fire before around aborn drive and going up into the foothills around east san jose, around evergreen. so we are going to see that as an issue as our winds continue to pick up. and it does show on our computer models that by 4:00 to 5:00 we could have winds coming in from the west and northwest, picking up to about miles per hour. so that would spread that fire even more up the hill. and then continue to make it more of an issue as we see the winds increasing and temperatures getting hotter as well which will cause that humidity level -- the humidity level to drop as well. so a lot to monitor here as we go throughout the day with smoke blowing away from the south bay but going to see our fire danger increasing and

. >> kari, we saw the flashing lights. i didn't have an answer for you and i still don't. southbound 101 all clear and i scanned the area just as they cleared that one set of flashing lights over on the shoulder, right around the 680 interchange. that was the last of it. everything cleared there through the area and the speed sensors reflect the same, as you it, highway 17 northbound smooth in toward silicon valley. a nice little slowdown just a little bit west 580 as it merges with 205, and then things clear up through the tri-valley. on the peninsula 101 at san bruno avenue a crash on the shoulder. there may be a semitruck which will distract but not causes sensors to change from green. over here the cash lanes on either side of the fastrak in the middle are slow. notice we don't have all the cash lanes open just yet. that's not bad, only to the end of the parking lot and holding steady the last ten minutes. no delays b.a.r.t. it takes you under the water and under that toll plaza. back to you. >> thanks, mike. >>> there are more developments surrounding the death of daw

because meteorologist kari hall is looking live at san francisco today. and boy, if it looked like this yesterday, a lot for folks would have seen fireworks. >> i think so. >> it did clear up during the afternoon but we know that fog rolled back in right at about 5:00 or 6:00 in the evening. and then inland we've seen a lot of sunshine and that is what we're seeing now in dublin. if your heading out around the tri--valley, checking out the alameda county fair, it is going to reach into the mid-80s. so a little bit warmer than yesterday. but we do still have the nice cooldown for the evening right at around sunset we're in the low 70s and by the time the fireworks start there tonight it will be 66 degrees. after reaching our high temperatures today, near 90 degrees in antioch, you'll feel the difference compared to yesterday. with ukiah reaching 93 degrees. up to 88 in santa rosa and san francisco. staying cool and breezy with those highs in the mid-60s. so we are going to see some changes ahead. our temperatures going up and then back down by the end of t

. >> meteorologist kari hall is tracking all of this for us. kari, i know you know that area well. you've lived there before. what are people dealing with right now? >> they are evacuating some of the coastal parishes there, as they get ready for heavy rounds of rain. we're already starting to see some of those heavy rain bands moving in, and so they have been soaked. the water levels are high, and it really can't hold much more, and the problem is, this system is so slowly moving that it's going to dump the potential of anywhere from 10 to 20 inches of rain, and so as this moves in, we're going to see this producing some flooding, the potential of some of those levees being breached, and so that's going to be what we'll watch over the next few days and hopefully we get the best case scenario with some of the lower ends of rainfall totals expected there. so far, we are going to see this moving in, as we go into tomorrow as well, so wll have more updates on that. i'll bring it back home with a look at our local forecast, coming up in a few minutes. mike, now you're tracking a crash

kari has a full look at the forecast coming up. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> i'm scott mcgrew. marcus washington is off. mike inouye has breaking news. >> richmond we continue to follow the investigation that's going on. we have this video from our chopper which was just over the scene for a couple of minutes. the fog made them leave the area for safety sake but enough to show you the area with the activity right here. you see the traffic flowing here on eastbound 580 getting off the san rafael to richmond bridge, forced off at harbor as this is a tough video to see. let's get out to the maps. chopper had to leave the area because of low clouds for their visibility, that was a safety factor. for you, you have to get forced off of the freeway so expect the slowing as you approach richmond from san rafael. this deadly crash involved a pedestrian, either on the freeway or trying to run across the off-ramp at cutting boulevard. so we'll follow that investigation. meanwhile, the traffic impact means you're off of the freeway at harbor. you'll p

as kari said, there are lots of babies all around. >> it's almost like springtime. it felt like spring but we are heading into the next few days going into the weekend feeling like summer. dublin with all clear conditions. if you are headed to the dublin bart station, grab a jacket, cooler temperatures in the 50s, and then check out thescen. let's go hour-by-hour for all o weather and then at lunchtime it's going to be in the upper 70s for the east bay valleys. in san jose, we are at 79 degrees. napa, already at 80 degrees. and we see the temperatures heading out, and some spots hotter than yesterday, and that has been the trend. concord will be at 88 degrees. and then in the evening, around sunset the breeze picks up and we cool off nicely into the low 60s. as you are getting up you get a look out the window and you are getting dressed, grab a jacket and short sleeves comfortable for the rest of the day. we will have hot weather building across the bay area. the high pressure starts to develop across the southwest. our winds will be pushed offshore so it will be wa

kari is exactly where she belongs. she's going to look at your weekend forecast. >> it looks pretty good, starting out this morning all clear skies over the south bay as you get ready to step out the door in south san jose. santa teresa with upper 50s as you start out, and we'll see those upper 50s turning to mid-70s by noon. here is a look at our high temperatures across our microclimates today. anywhere from 84 in san jose to 86 in antioch. 79 in nain napa today. ukiah tops out at 90 and san francisco reaches 66 degrees. we'll look ahead to the weekend forecast in about seven minutes. mike, you're saying fridays are different at the bay bridge. >> yes t builds up more slowly but it still builds up. we have those metering lights ready to be turned on. they were not registered on when i last checked at 5:27. so that's a little bit late for friday. looks like they are stacking up in the cash and fast track lanes are slowing. we'll consider them on for now. if they're not it's a nice report. contra costa county no delays
