nesbitt. kron. 4 news. >> san francisco health leaders also announced new changes for indoor and outdoor mega event. it doesn't just require booster shots but also changes to the definition of what a make even is in the city entirely. kron four's dan thorn has that story for us. >> in response to the highly contagious omicron variant san francisco's health department has changed the size of what's considered a mega event indoors and outdoors. beginning saturday, large indoor events will be dropped from 5,000 people to 500 people and large outdoor events are now 5,000 people down from 10,000 people up to date. vaccinations will be required including boosters beginning february first for attendees 16 and up a receipt of a booster will be needed as soon as they are eligible 12 to 15 year-olds must also be fully vaccinated. but boosters will not be required until march 5 to 11 year-olds will either need to show proof of vaccination or a negative covid-19. test before attending and 2 to 4 year-olds

nesbitt kron. 4 news. >> thank you, rob. in the south bay, san jose police shot and killed a suspected carjacker. this happened last night in the area of heading street and park avenue. authorities say the man was driving a stolen car and tried carjacking someone in santa clara, the suspect who was allegedly armed with a gun was not able to take the car. he was trying to carjack. officers say he drove the original stolen car back to san jose where he then caused a major accident at the intersection and injured other drivers. when police they arrived. they say that suspect started shooting at officers. the suspect was hit at least once by police gunfire and then was taken to a hospital where he died. the police officers involved were not injured. the second day in a row, search efforts continued in fremont for a 27 year-old stanford nurse. >> who friends say has been missing since early tuesday morning. traveling nurse michael o'dell was reported missing by his roommate after he didn't come home from his night shift at stanfo

i'm rob nesbitt kron 4 news. appreciate it, rob. today, the california department of public health released the most recent statistics on covid. take a look. nearly 80% of the eligible population which includes people 5 and older. >> have been vaccinated with at least one dose. however, the average daily case rate is nearly 16,000 people a day getting covid. that's about 46 new cases per 100,000 people. the test positivity rate is just under 16%, which is high. and right now there are more than 7300 people hospitalized with covid-19. meanwhile, napa county no longer has any icu beds available. that is according or i should say according to the california covid dashboard back on december 31st. napa county recorded having only 8 icu beds available again tonight. none and according to his dashboard, as of yesterday. 11 people were hospitalized because of covid with at least 3 of those people in the icu. but again, no perspective tonight on the situation and that other than they have no more icu beds available. we have reached out to co
