we're doing okay. >> the north bay valleys, down into the upper 20s today. look at the big improvement into monday and tuesday. tuesday is like a spike in heat, mid-40s. concord, livermore, look at your jump by tuesday. sunday is the coldest. still cold tomorrow morning on monday but better than this. same story in the heart of the bay. mid-30s now. didn't get to freezing in some spots. still 30s. 50 morning low by thursday. we're changing the air mass. look at this in the pacific. you would think a cold storm from the gulf of alaska could make it colder and most times that is what happens but in this case, we're going to pull in warmer air in front of it. that is how the storms work into that flow. that will help. then the clouds overnight are going to be the biggest factor that help. and we'll also start to increase the humidity in the air a little more. that is how we get out of the freeze ram. room. >> there is also rain with it. sunday night throughout monday, light showers. a cloudy day, light showers throughout the morning into the afternoon and eveni

take a look at three examples for the north bay valleys, it went down to 28 today. that is the number i am taking from the sonoma county airport. tomorrow, we pretty much do the same thing. march improvement. monday and tuesday gets a lot better. we will take a look at those valleys for the inland east bay. doing it again tomorrow and you see the improvement for monday and tuesday. dramatic changes because we are going to get back into the storm track. not that there is a lot of rain coming, but we are going to get more clouds. that will also bring more editing in general. it will be more of an insulator for your overnight lows. the clouds start to be more noticeable so you get another really pretty blue sky in the low 50s. clouds increase sunday late and then monday it rains, we can watch that with the showers just kind of intermittent monday going to the heart of the afternoon into the evening. plan on a chance of light rain. there is a chance at any point on monday where we are not going to get a lot. it probably sticks around into tuesday morning at this point a

>> yeah. >> carl went back to the north bay, too. let's see what is going on with that today. here's a look at our current visibility. quarter of a mile. right now carl hanging out over novato and moving towards napa and we are seeing that in santa rosa as well. we are clear over much of the bay area, and we start out with fog and turn our attention to the high winds today. some of the coastal ranges as well as heading up towards northern sonoma county. we will see some of the gusts and some of the upper elevations reaching up to 70 miles per hour later this evening. so high winds could bring down tree limbs and possibly give us power outages especially for people who live in the hills. we are going to stop it here. at about 230 this afternoon, we can see bright red color and dark purples will see the high winds. then as we go into the evening the winds will peak and we could see really gusty winds as we go into the night. it has been a while since we have had winds like this so it could cause issues with drowned trees once again, so you want to make sure you are preparing you

it's very focused through the north bay. the rest of the bay area is doing okay when it comes to the fog. forecasted highs for today, we are going to get afternoon sun. it's not going to be as cloudy as it was in some spots yesterday, and our daytime highs are going to be a little cooler up to the north bay, but very similar down through the south bay. 62 degrees in san jose, 60 degrees in concord. 58 degrees in oakland, 57 in san francisco, and 59 degrees in napa. your air quality outlook, we're going to remain moderate for the most part. i did see a bump in the north bay to 82. this stays within the frame of moderate between 51 and 100 for the air quality index. we should be okay there as well as the long range outlook, that dry pattern still continues, but heading into tonight and into tomorrow, we are expecting to see some of that wind start to kick up, especially for the higher elevation areas in the mountains. so by sunday, that high pressure continues to dominate. it rolls back in in strength. over the next seven days

we do have a wind warning for the north bay mountains. we could see wind gusts to 50 miles per hour and maybe a little stronger through about 11 a.m.. this is where we've got a wind advisory. not as intense. not including the areas where we all live. anybody in the mountains will experience winds up to 30 miles per hour. when you look at the winds, you can see why. they are gusting up to 50 in the higher elevations. we see a sign that the winds are about to die down. once we get into this evening, it is barely even breezy. the rest of the day shows us some high clouds and daytime highs in the mid 60s. 67, san jose. 67, santa rosa. fremont, 64. looking across the seven day forecast, there is no change in that pattern. mid-to upper 60s for some of our warmer valleys. when we take a look at the microclimates, we see the same story across the north bay. low to mid-60s everywhere else. no rain coming our way. >>> i want to underscore a couple of things that you said. the area where that fire started is somewhat sparsely populated. i think the

>>that's being driven by some offshore winds up in the north bay. we don't quite see covering the coast too much this morning sometimes to the folk form. that's what we see. is that the coast and around the bay, this go around its very base centric. and this is the east bay shore, like just starting to lift off so we can see now the east bay shoreline a little bit. but you can see it's covering up the bay there as we go forward with future cast winds a little bit breezy side up in the north bay of an offshore, yes, dry wind and that will subside as we go into the evening hours a little bit. and the fog is expected to return for tonight in probably spill back in over into the central valley by this afternoon. nice performance. there. then tonight, the fog again, redevelops across the bay spills across the delta into the central valley. as you can see and with a high overhead, sometimes it takes a while to really clear that out, too. inland. we're basically looking at sunny skies. temperatures 60's a 59 or show by 4 at 7. we're clear. and 49 with a fo

as well as the north bay. rain is still well to the north of us, but the low off the coast is going to kick all this through the bay area. then we'll go back to drier weather by the weekend. today, temperatures reach into the upper 50s, reaching 58 until oakland, 57 in sonoma and a high of about 58 degrees in fremont, 61 in south san jose. when we compare that to what the rest of the country is feeling right now, take a look at this. that's 19 degrees below zero. they have some bitterly cold area pushing across half of the country right now. if you will be traveling for the weekend, make sure you plan ahead. taking a look at our forecast hour by hour, just a couple of sprinkles possible today. tomorrow is when the rain really comes back. we'll start out tomorrow morning seeing the rain in the north bay, moving to san francisco and moving into the rest of the bay area by early tomorrow afternoon. i do think by the evening commute, all of this will really start to clear out and we'll see some dry weather going i

the best chance for rain for the north bay and areas north of san francisco, 6:00 on monday evening. and then just some scattered showers moving through. south bay really might miss out this particular pattern. you can see most significant rain north of san francisco. best chance for rain is right there on friday. i think that's going to have the biggest punch in terms of rain for the bay area and some snow as the system lifts on out. we'll see drier conditions for next weekend. early estimates on rain totals across seven days. the highest numbers towards sonoma county. a lot more on the north coast. that's where the heavy rain is going to be. highway 50 northward and this particular pattern is the best in terms of rain now through next friday but we could see the return of an unwelcome guest for the west coast. it's high pressure built in behind the system. january 11th. starts to look a little bit dry. so patchy fog might be a bit of an issue. but for now, once we get past the friday storm for next week, things are trying to trend just a little bit drier. not too much of a problem.
