rough winds better parts of the north bay as well. several power poles were knocked over a napa county. in the north bay were without power this afternoon. high winds helped fuel the wildfire in sonoma county. 2:00 this morning. crews say they contained the flames at five acres. the cause is under investigation. developing news out of monterey county. a rare winter wildfire is earning just north of big sur. it started in colorado canyon. emergency crews shut down 21 miles of highway one in both directions. there were evacuations of about 500 residents. they will shelter at carmel middle school. >> people are working to get out of the area. we know fires are unpredictable. any of the road leading up to highway one are narrow, tree-lined. we won every one to be safe. >> this fire is being called the colorado fire. it has burned at least 2.3 square miles. flames jumped highway one and could be seen as far away as pebble beach. it is 40% contained. shifting to the weather, are we done with this windy weather? >> it is winding down. we are

the best chance for rain for the north bay and areas north of san francisco, 6:00 on monday evening. and then just some scattered showers moving through. south bay really might miss out this particular pattern. you can see most significant rain north of san francisco. best chance for rain is right there on friday. i think that's going to have the biggest punch in terms of rain for the bay area and some snow as the system lifts on out. we'll see drier conditions for next weekend. early estimates on rain totals across seven days. the highest numbers towards sonoma county. a lot more on the north coast. that's where the heavy rain is going to be. highway 50 northward and this particular pattern is the best in terms of rain now through next friday but we could see the return of an unwelcome guest for the west coast. it's high pressure built in behind the system. january 11th. starts to look a little bit dry. so patchy fog might be a bit of an issue. but for now, once we get past the friday storm for next week, things are trying to trend just a little bit drier. not too much of a problem.

in the north bay rohnert park police have arrested a man who gun and kept firearms easily accessible to children officers responding to a home on southwest boulevard last night and found a couple fighting in front of their 2 children while they were on the scene. police say they found 3 guns inside that home. one of those guns have been reported stolen during a burglary, a home burglary in august of 2019, the other 2 guns were not registered. the woman told officers that her husband did not use the gun toward her or her children that man, though, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property child endangerment and criminal storage of a gun. and oakland firefighters responding to an overnight blaze that took place on east 18th street. and second avenue but heavy flames and smoke could be seen coming from a shed behind a building fire crews rushing to that scene. we're told the fire was contained shortly after no one was hurt. but there's no word on exactly what sparked that fire. sports is up next. trade winds filling in for jimmy jimmy garoppolo as the forty-niners

the north bay is where we are watching. make sure your home and everything around your home is ready for the high winds. as the temperatures head for the mid to upper 60s today, a little warmer today. as the system passes through to the east of us, it's pushing in the high winds and also around the high pressure that has been keeping our weather dry. it has been dry for a while so you are probably wondering how is the sierra snowpack? not bad at all. we're still above normal and on track to continue to see above normal snowpack. we are right now at 113% of our average amount of snow thanks to the big boost we had in december. now as we take a look at our 7-day forecast, it will get cooler. dry weather continues for the next several days. hopefully we see a change in the pattern for early february. as of right now we are still dealing with comfortable temperatures, but just watching the gusty winds for later today. >>> mike, you have been looking at the fog and how it has had an impact on the north bay commute. >> kari, we a

so it does warm dry, not and breezes first arriving for those of you in the north bay valleys by monday night. but then look at how it becomes more widespread by tuesday morning, napa and fairfield seeing sustained winds in the 40 mile per hour range. even half moon bay and along the coast of the san francisco peninsula seeing winds in the 20 mile per hour range. so it is going to be a noticeably windy day out there with the biggest concern for higher elevations, north bay mountains and east bay hills elevations. above 1000 feet could see wind gusts and that 50 to 60 miles per hour range. so we are going to notice the return of warm dry breeze is but not really going to increase our temperatures for the next couple of days, but certainly clearing us out. and as you can see, starting february first on tuesday, in a dry note, your 10 at 10 outlook coming up after the break to see if any rain is heading in our forecast. back to you, jonathan thank you. tonight, thousands of comcast customers in the east bay are currently without service. >> after bullets severed a fiber optic line. this is
