well, in the north bay, members of the marin and sonoma county bus operators union are authorizing a strike set for this coming weekend. not clear whether it will actually happen. but the union is hoping that this move will to authorize a strike will help get some stalled contract talks moving forward. union leaders say that there have been they've been in talks now for 7 months and still no contract. a spokesperson for the golden gate bridge district says that they're hopeful that there will be the namic ul full resolution soon. we'll see. now to the latest on the wildfires burning to our south of the colorado fire in big sur began on friday and forced a lot of people in the area to evacuate their homes. cal fire says that the fire now is 40% contained. it's about 700 acres in size and highway one is still shut down from a drop in a creek. >> 2 points are all types of traditional firefighting tactics are being used right now to try and stop the flames. some big challenges over the weekend, though, where the wind gusts, which were clocked up to about 50 miles per hour at times. >> an

looks like your main routes from the east bay over to the peninsula or the north bay looking pretty good this morning. and if you're north bay commuters coming down in the san francisco here, one, 0, one golden gate bridge ride looking fine in both directions will have more weather and traffic checks in a bit. but now let's get back to the headlines and our continuing coverage of the coronavirus. we'll start with the very latest developments now out of san francisco where the school district and the teachers union have failed to reach a new deal on covid protocols. so the union says that their members have 3 demands, one, that the district provide enough masks for all students and staff. secondly, they want the district to test all students and staff every week for covid. and then thirdly, they want the district to extend current sick leave for educators who have covid. the union claims the district is concerned more about the financial cost of providing sick leave for staff. then their safety. the points out that the state of california is no longer funding covid sick pay in a statement

in the north bay marin county health leaders. they are now recommending endure high school sports be played without their parents. and fans in attendance. the new rule means no parents families are fans being allowed to watch the games. the the county's recommending that people do this effective immediately. but the novato unified school district adopted the rules last night keeping parents out from a series of games, public health officer doctor matt willis is concerned that a room full of parents and with omicron lurking is not good for anybody involved. >> as a parent of high school athlete. you know, i know that it hurts not to be able to attend those and even i can do not want to be apple. find transmission at this point in our khon surge. we need to be be doing the opposite. >> local health officials. they're asking schools to not also hold indoor assemblies while the omicron variant continues to surge. and until they hear back from the health department happening today. the teachers union in san francisco will hold a news

kron 4 news. >> in the north bay, sonoma county is providing additional covid-19 vaccine clinics for its residents to get the vaccine. the clinic will be held for the next 4 weekends at the sonoma county event center fairgrounds in santa rosa. the clinic will run from 9 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. and is open for eligible residents until february. 20th, we're told the clinic can provide up to 500 vaccines every day. the county says they are also encouraging more parents to get their kids vaccinated. california attorney general rob bonta now warning folks to watch out for fake covid testing sites now popping up across the state. bonta says that scammers are simply trying to take advantage of a shortage in tests to make sites available to folks who are looking to get tested. he says the crooks often pose with legitimate clinics even taking payments without sending back test results. he says others will try to collect personal data with the intention of committing fraud. bonta now urging folks to check to see if testing sites are real or fake before you head out to get your
