inland east bay and north bay valleys. you see from the camera, there is that low cloud bank over the skyline. i will show you where we have some trouble spots. we'll leave that view, as cool as that looks. everybody is in the mid 50s except concord. isn't that interesting? it's 46 in concord. concord you are one of the locations that has fog. that colder air and fog kind of going hand in hand. santa rosa 51. you've got it as well. it's 0.3 of a mile now for concord. the north bay, we are about a mile as well. and fairfield is down on the drive. patchy fog for the usual suspects. if we look above the fog and check the mid level clouds, it's gray everywhere. if we play it forward, we stay that way. gray skies, we never really get a break. it will stay this way until tomorrow's rain. there is rain coming home morning. today's daytime highs, low 60s for warmer spots in the south bay. mid 50s for inland valleys of the east bay, upper 50s about everywhere else. if we track the next opportunity for rain, you see it right there.

that's for the north bay mountains. many of us seeing winds gusting to about 50 to 55 miles per hour and in the higher elevations, east bay hills, north bay mountains gusts of 60 to possibly 70 miles per hour. watch for do you knowed trees and be possible with strong winds. now is a good time to secure loose outdoor objects that will likely blow around in our wind as we head through the afternoon and for tonight. currently, looking at calm to light conditions this morning. it's really up in higher elevations that i am watching winds starting to pick up, gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour this morning in the hills and mountains. again for all of us through the day, we'll see those increasing winds by this afternoon. temperature wise, we are in the 40s from concord, oakland, livermore, san jose, low 50s in san francisco, a cold 38 degrees in santa rosa. not as extensive with our fog this morning compared to yesterday but still dealing with patchy fog for parts of the north bay. for today in your forecast, looking at that pa

in the north bay we have been getting light rain. a couple hundredths of an inch of rain for communities up and down 101, that's the latest look at high def doppler. futurecast sees it, play it forward and watch showers slowly fall apart as they slowly march south across the rest of the bay. we'll see rain across the golden gate within the next hour or two and from there, there is less and less rain so by the time we get to south bay there is not a lot left. we will get breaks in the clouds today which will be nice. by the time we have gotten to noon we are looking at sunshine in the north bay. once we get to the afternoon, back edge of the clouds will clear out for everybody else. rainfall totals are light, get a tenth of an inch of rain out of this for the most part. be aware of slick roads for the morning commute. daytime highs go to the upper 50s today with more blue sky. it will snow in the sierra. we'll pick up another half foot and that's why we've got another winter weather advisory until 6:00. you see the snow level down per

we do have a wind warning for the north bay mountains. we could see wind gusts to 50 miles per hour and maybe a little stronger through about 11 a.m.. this is where we've got a wind advisory. not as intense. not including the areas where we all live. anybody in the mountains will experience winds up to 30 miles per hour. when you look at the winds, you can see why. they are gusting up to 50 in the higher elevations. we see a sign that the winds are about to die down. once we get into this evening, it is barely even breezy. the rest of the day shows us some high clouds and daytime highs in the mid 60s. 67, san jose. 67, santa rosa. fremont, 64. looking across the seven day forecast, there is no change in that pattern. mid-to upper 60s for some of our warmer valleys. when we take a look at the microclimates, we see the same story across the north bay. low to mid-60s everywhere else. no rain coming our way. >>> i want to underscore a couple of things that you said. the area where that fire started is somewhat sparsely populated. i think the

by that i mean the north bay. that's when this will be bringing most noticeable rain through sonoma, marin, napa, not to say it won't rain after that to the south. it will. it won't be that good. that's maybe about 0.2 of an inch of rain. if we go to 9:00 and 10:00, golden gate, it will rain today, don't get me wrong. by then we are talking about light showers that should not have a significant impact on the drive. even the rain in the north bay, windshield wipers will likely be on in the window of really 7:00 to 9:00. but it shouldn't have much of an impact. slick roads are slick roads. give yourself extra time. south bay, maybe a shower in the early afternoon. then we watch clouds clear out by the time we get to 1:00 or 2:00. that might be one of the more interesting things about this. it's been a while since we have seen blue sky. it's going to take a while to do that for some of us. for north bay you will see it by early afternoon. in the south bay, you might get to clear blue sky by just around sun set tonigh

inland east bay, north bay, coast, drier mid week. our next weather system is friday and then drier weather ahead for our weekend. let's check with gianna for a look at traffic. how are the roadways? >>> it's been an easy commute which is good news. a live look at censors on our mapping system. we've got live updates here. 73 miles per hour through fremont. through the peninsula, san mateo, red wood city, 101, all clear. i haven't seen brake lights or issues along 680, 580, everything clear through the sunol grade. a map of traffic into the altamont pass, no issues, slowest speed about 48 miles per hour, a nice ride for super commuters if you are headed towards the dublin interchange. a live look, 580, 680 connector west bound head lights heading towards 680. you see a few cars but still a nice ride with an easy travel time in the green. 25 minutes 205 towards 680. highway 4 is clear, commuting out of antioch towards 80, from there to the bay bridge, 27 minutes from antioch to hercules. you will need another 14 minutes from highway 4

we'll see temperatures in the north bay climb to the upper 50s and low 60s and north bay numbers also doing that same story. big picture shows us what's happened to our weather pattern. all the storms are getting redirected around us. you can watch that not only in the lodge range forecast from now taking us through friday, even taking that longer. as we watch the dates, we can play this forward now going all the way through next sunday. not this coming sunday but next sunday january 23. a big pattern in the atmosphere, not working in our favor. we have the block of high pressure over us, consistent low pressure here. storms have to go up and over that block and as long as the ridge stays in place, we don't get the rain. it is typical to see a set up like that develop throughout the winter and just lock itself in for a period of time. sure enough, this january we are doing that. seven-day forecast shows you what that looks like. a few clouds and temperatures a couple degrees above average for this time of year for inland valleys on the mark in the bay, upper 50s. i will have more comi

up in the far north bay variables at best it is 2/100. high def doppler shows us the light rain now. we put it forward and this is what we were looking at we will see a line of rain that is settled but it is tied into a cold front picking up the intensity of the rain. it is they are. you can watch it. it is not very strong. if you only have a misting rain today over the next six hours through the evening, you might notice the rain picking up two more noticeable raindrops. we. up maybe 1/10 of an inch. morning lows will go into the low 50s but we will keep a cloudy overnight. the rain holds on through the early morning on tuesday. very little consequence from it. wednesday if we see in the rain, it comes from a system to the north bay. this is the next system that we will watch. just to get an idea what friday raincoat look thing, it is about one quarter of an inch. maybe by monday of next week there is another chance of rain. the rain is only in the morning and in the north bay you might see a stray shower coming through. over to you, all

in on the north bay communities. we can watch the high resolution future cast going through today. it's a sunny day today. then we will play that ahead to this afternoon and look at the rain off the coast. that's from a system that is just too far north. we may notice some of the clouds as we go overnight tonight. even then -- by the time we get to the heart of the day on thursday there's a few high clouds. same story as we look out across the pacific. series of storms continuing to come in to the pacific northwest. they are all going to get pulled away from us just a long train of system that continue to move into canada and redirect up and over and around california. seven day forecast keeps things going. status quo. daytime highs in the mid-60s's. low 60's for oakland. around 60 in the city. micro climate will show us the same story. the north bay valleys and around 60 for our east bay valleys. how is e drive look? >>> it's actually looking pretty good for the most part. we aren't seeing any major accidents so tha

in the predawn in the north bay, the earliest showers arrive. there will likely be a small impact on the morning commute. these will not be heavy downpours. we barely noticed the rain until we get past noon or 1:00. from there, light showers that will linger into the earliest part of tuesday. is one quarter inch of rain in general. if we looked at it, look at the rainfall. these storms are aimed at the pacific northwest. we are catching the tail end. it does drop a bit of snow in the sierra. you have to be up around 80. it is only a couple of inches. that is enough for an advisory. monday through tuesday, enough snow and change will likely be required. there is another system coming by friday. that starts to show up there. it looks promising. that one has better aim and will come far enough south that we should do better. the rain tomorrow, five days ago, looked like it had better a-. the pattern has been to pull them further north. friday we have it in there for chance of rain. to be a lingering shower or two going on. we do get a nice break in

bay and most of it falls in the north bay for the whole system and it is really focused on the north bay. we get some rain south of the golden gate late morning and early afternoon and this takes us ahead to tomorrow night at 10:30. we still see light and scattered showers coming through. this is the kind of scenario you don't get rained on a whole lot, but there will be showers throughout the day that will be on-again and off-again and more off. but they will turn back on perhaps at times when you least expect it or when you have to be out doing something and you get some light rain. the way you know this is to look at the totals which are not very big but a quarter of an inch of rain and much better colors here. you keep going up into the redwood coast and there will be a few inches here and it is a classic set up in that way. the storms are coming back now to more of that classic la niÑa set up we get more noticeable rain up here and the storms peter out before they get down here and that is the accumulated rainfall through wednesday and in the spirit you see the same pattern. it

it's mainly the north bay. real pretty view from treasure island looking back toward the east span of the bay bridge. everybody is at 5 degrees. you can only see eight tensts of a mile. just be aware of that. patchy fog. everybody else is doing okay with the visibility. midlevel clouds because of that we don't get a lot of blue sky today. it'll be another gray day. that still manage to climb up near 60. we miss out on the majority of what there is. i mean we are going to get rain on friday but most of that is going to come in to the north and -- we will miss out on the bulk of the storm. take a look at the time. that's friday morning. right about this time. that is when we have light showers just kind of -- that will clear up by late morning. by the time we get to one in the afternoon those are clear skies overhead. we get a little bit of rain friday. system moves out by late morning. friday will be blue sky for most of it. we should keep things closer into the weekend. daytime highs mid to upper 50's. we aren'

on monday, some showers up in the north bay. as you can see, widely scattered and, you know, not like a downpour. it is just a weak little system coming through. favor the north bay and not the south bay. for santa rosa it looks like 70% for monday and tuesday. break it down to san francisco and you will bring the probabilities down to one out of three. widely scattered showers, again, down to san jose almost, it is not nothing but a chance. this is mostly a north bay event for the early part of the week, cloudy for everybody. to sum it up, clear and cold tonight, a dry start to 2022. we get a chance of a few showers coming in monday through wednesday. does not look as sunny next week as it was this past three to four days, it was a nice break. tomorrow, numbers will be in the lower 50s in general. 51 degrees at half-moon bay in santa clara, 52, and the same for san jose. down 101 on morgan hill, 51 degrees. it will be 51 and in union city 50. east bay, cooler, concord manages 48 degrees and vallejo, 48 degrees and antioch, 46,

take a look at three examples for the north bay valleys, it went down to 28 today. that is the number i am taking from the sonoma county airport. tomorrow, we pretty much do the same thing. march improvement. monday and tuesday gets a lot better. we will take a look at those valleys for the inland east bay. doing it again tomorrow and you see the improvement for monday and tuesday. dramatic changes because we are going to get back into the storm track. not that there is a lot of rain coming, but we are going to get more clouds. that will also bring more editing in general. it will be more of an insulator for your overnight lows. the clouds start to be more noticeable so you get another really pretty blue sky in the low 50s. clouds increase sunday late and then monday it rains, we can watch that with the showers just kind of intermittent monday going to the heart of the afternoon into the evening. plan on a chance of light rain. there is a chance at any point on monday where we are not going to get a lot. it probably sticks around into tuesday morning at this point a

it is still windy in the north bay mountains. it is calm and santa rosa and if you look across the rest of the bay area, it is a much calmer start to the day. we will leave behind the wind story because it will be called for the remainder of today. the colors are starting to shade in the map that would indicate where we would get more noticeable wind. daytime highs in the mid 60s. a few high clouds. the other item that needs to be discussed about today is one that you might not be thinking about. the national weather service has issued a dangerous sneaker wave advisory. it covers the entire coastline of the bay area and will to the south and the north as well. to help you visualize, if you look at the wave heights, watch that line of higher energy in the pacific coming into the california coast. this is the route monday. there is another one coming behind it and we will give that one more time to play out. it is possible you might need to think about this for tuesday night into wednesday is that next surge of more wave energy com

south bay, mid 60s, inland east bay 63 concord, tri valley 63 in livermore and north bay, 61 in the napa valley. daytime highs with that seven- day forecast, san francisco, oakland, san jose, you see plenty sunshine through most of the week though a few more clouds stream in friday and into our weekend. for the inland east bay, north bay, for the coast, you can see the sunshine with temperatures at least staying steady over the next several days. speaking of dangerous conditions at beaches, some of the sneaker waves crept up behind unsuspecting beachgoers at ocean beach, low swells can switch to a sudden rush of water under the sand and that water packs a punch. every year more than a few people are swept to sea. one family we spoke to had a close call of their own yesterday. >> we were having a really interesting conversation and next thing you know, a wave came from the side where we weren't really looking. >> it's ocean beach. there are always warnings but i never thought it would actually be true, ya know. >> a little scary. the bottom line, never turn your back on the ocean. swimmer
