hayward city hall offices are closed every friday this month. and brent one is closed is city hall police headquarters as well as the municipal services center until further notice. the les hill city hall is closed through february. 28. starting this saturday, private health insurance companies are going to be acquired to cover the cost of at-home covid test. the biden administration announces changes. it looks to lower the cost to make testing more convenient and affordable under the new policy, health insurance providers are going to be required to cover the cost of up to 8 at home tests per person per month. the white house says this policy will dramatically reduce the cost of test, adding that they soon expect to roll out a new website where you can order covid test online and have them delivered to your home. governor newsom unveiled his proposed state budget that totals more than 286 billion dollars in the budget. he laid out a gas tax holiday and billions of dollars to address homelessness, climate change as well as public safety issues.

meanwhile, at the hayward unified school district, they're going to be back to in-person classes today. instruction was held online all of last week. district officials say there was a shortage of both healthy staff members and covid tests to go around. but the board of education voted on friday in favor of returning to campus, along with some new safety protocols. among them, students and staff are given at home covid tests and either surgical or kenny kn 95 masks to wear schools will also now offer grab and go lunches. staff meetings will be held virtually and student athletes will be tested for covid before attending any practice or competition. the cdc is recommending schools cancel certain extracurricular activities that are considered high risk. and that includes football, wrestling and band. the agency says that any activity that results in increased exhalation raises the risk of spreading covid especially indoors. so this is just a recommendation at this point by the cdc. it's not mandatory just yet, but some local leaders, including bergen county's health officer. well, they'r

the hayward unified school district is expanding covid-19 testing for its students and staff members. the district says they are regionalize ing test centers and lived in test times a mobile testing units going to be coming to the school district's office today. this testing is for staff members only tess start at 10 and it's 6 the mobile units, county park in the visitors parking lot at the schools districts office is located off the commodore street. staff members can also get tested on friday. about 62,000 students and staff in los angeles county tested positive for covid-19 before they were set to return to school today. that's according to the los angeles unified school district. now the school district is required. all students and employees to show proof of a negative test for they go back to school. spokesperson for the district says they have a ball. 4,000 staff m mbers are ready to step in if need it. and in the east bay visiting a hospital for covid-19. testing is not recommended for people experiencing mild symptoms or if you're asymptomatic. that's from john near hospital
