this is part letitia james new york attorney general civil investigation. whether they had lied about the value of their properties, condos, officer towers, golf courses. this investigation has been going on for a long time. they did depose eric trump, one of the top executives at the country. the timing of this comes as the criminal investigation, which james' office is also working along with is come to go a head because the manhattan d.a., sigh vance is stepping down. he didn't run for reelection. big questions on what the next steps will be in a criminal investigation. a spokesperson for cy vance's office said in a public statement that the deposition that james' office is seeking is separate and not part of the criminal investigation. these are two parallel investigations. we can expect that the former president will move to fight this deposition. he has moved toll fight many o these depositions. particularly because it comes with the threat of a criminal investigation ongoing. it involves some of the same leaders of the offices there with james being

as you said, jennifer and james crumbley are now facing $500,000 bond each. if they're able to make that to get out of prison and get out of jail, they have to have a gps monitor because of their apparent attempt to flee last night. you heard at the arraignment lawyers saying they weren't going to flee, they were getting their finances in order. they were fully intending to bring them in today to be arraigned. in the end, the judge gave the prosecutor that high, very high bail of a half million each. these two parents are facing four counts each of involuntary manslaughter because the prosecutor as you heard argues that they are criminally negligent. if they had acted, the four teenagers would not have been killed. seven other people at oxford high school would not have been injured, heard her spell out they bought the gun for their son. there are more details she touched on in the interview last night. we know the day before the shooting a teacher was concerned about seeing ethan crumbley searching for ammunition online. they reached out to jennifer crumbley

james and jennifer crumbley entered not guilty pleas to the charges files against them. the sheriff held a news conference a short while ago. what did he have to say about what's transpired the last 24 hours? >> reporter: we learned a few things. we learned james and jennifer and ethan crumbley are all being held in the same place not far from here. they are in isolation. the sheriff said it's likely ethan doesn't know his parents have been arrested because they're held in isolation. we heard about a thuird person who helped james and jennifer get into that warehouse where they were hiding. here's what michael bouchard had to say about that. >> we believe they were assisted in that location to get there, to get in and we're gathering that information and we're going to have the totality of that done fairly soon and present that to our prosecutor for potential charges for either aiding and abetting or obstruction of justice. >> reporter: i have a few more details about what transpired overnight. my colleague said that person of interest was caught on surveillance video he

james is 45 years old. he has a prior conviction from 2004, again similar to jennifer crumbley, any convictions he what would have been -- we believe they were misdemeanors, he doesn't have substance abuse issues. he does have some health issues that require, he is diabetic, require two types of insulin. he was gainfully employed. he has been in michigan since he and jennifer moved here several years ago. as for the seriousness of charges as miss smith has stated, the facts that have been presented by miss mcdonald and her office have been cherry picked to further her narrative of making an example of mr. and mrs. crumbley which she freely said she was doing yesterday during her press conference. again, to echo what miss smith said, i personally contacted miss mcdonald's office to advise of mayan miss smith's availability. he chose not to call back. i was in communication with law enforcement and miss smith. they knew we were planning to bring in mr. and mrs. crumbley, they knew we were in communication wit

well, this lawsuit is asking a federal court to block letitia james' long running investigation into the trump organization. roughly two years her office has been conducting a civil investigation into the trump organization, looking at whether it lied about the value of its assets to obtain more favorable loan terms, better insurance rates, and to pay lower taxes. now, her investigation mirrors a similar investigation being conducted by the manhattan district attorney's office. that, though, is a criminal investigation and has already resulted in criminal charges against the organization and one of its executives. now, what's interesting about the timing of trump's lawsuit is it comes as james is seeking to depose the former president under oath next month. now, trump and his attorneys have long argued that james is politically motivated, but this this lawsuit they get more specific. they argue that james has violated trump's constitutional rights, and that she has abused her office to further her political career. now, in a statement, james has responded to these allegations saying,

james, great to see you. build back better, dead or alive? what do you think? >> build back better is dead but build back differently is going to be very alive after the 1st of the year. they are going to get back, have substantial agreement on things. everybody needs a cooling-off period. look, it's 50. a 2nd grade math teacher needs to go to washington and explain the number 50 to people. you know, we -- we didn't do that well in these congressional and senate elections, so we're where we are. i think the president and senator manchin are going to be able to work this out. for right now, just going to put it on hold for a couple weeks but i -- i have no doubt this thing is going to come back. >> what is this thing? i mean, how -- how much will this thing resemble the bill right now? >> i'm not a legislative mechanic. but it will contain many good things, and what people need to do is stop talking about what's not in it when we get it and what's in it. and by the way, we have had a good year, economically. historically good year, economically, in this country.

they're ready to launch the james webb telescope into space. not just the biggest and most powerful nasa has ever constructed, it could answer some of the biggest questions we have about our universe and how it began. cnn's kristin fisher is here with more on this. no small feat. just answer the questions of the universe. everything about this is fascinating. what is going to happen tomorrow? >> kate, this launch is about as high-stakes as it gets for nasa. if heaven forbid something goes wrong tomorrow, that is more than two decades, $10 billion down the drain just like that. it would be a huge embarrassment for nasa and a massive blow to astronomers all over the world. if i would goes well and nasa believes it will, this telescope could truly transform our understanding of the universe and can answer questions like where did that very first light in the cosmos come from and are we alone in the universe? here's nasa administrator bill nelson on our air just this morning. >> it's 100 times more powerful than the hubble space telescope. it's bro
