, trump's daily schedule, white house visitor log, and call records. trump's lawyer justin clark arguing the requests are overly broad and failure to block them would open up the door for the partisanship of document requests and blowing a hole in executive privilege that should concern everybody. wh whoil the judge asked clark to dial down the rhetoric a bit she challenged lawyers on the house committee on the breadth of documents requested saying some of these requests seem very narrowly tailored but some are alarmingly broad. and there has to be some limit. the national archives says it intends to hand over the trump documents next friday unless the judge blocks them which she did not appear willing to do. this is such an historic case with implications for future presidents it is likely whatever decision the judge makes will be appealed. we also learned today that the committee has interviewed over 150 people so far in its investigation. >> thank you so much. let's talk to somebody who knows a little bit about executive privilege, john dean, white

jonathan lemire, i am curious of the white house a couple days after the election, what the white house is saying about the election, if they are talking about new direction to move in, i want to go back to this new york times editorial. one of the most progressive voices of america. this is as i talk that you might hear on "morning joe" or hear from guy cecil or hear from bill clinton. if you read this, it says for many voters especially those who don't vote regularly, the 2020 election was about removing mr. trump from the white house. it was less about policies or ideology. mr. biden did not win the democratic primary because he promised progressive revolution. there were plenty of other candidates doing that. he captured the nomination and the presidency because he promised an exhausted nation a return to sanity decency and competency. as representative abigail spanberger told the new york times nobody elected him to be fdr, they elected him to be normal or stop the chaos. they did and i am not sure what happened since january 20th. there is no doubt. there is no doubt from that spe

they say they agree that he should have-- be in the white house. how do you persuade tens of millions of republicans that former president trump is wrong? >> i think that you lay out the facts. and that is what we do in the book. we lay out the facts and the facts do not support that allegation and that is why over 60 courts have rejected the argument over the course of time, since the election. but here's the bigger issue, judy. is that you know, no political party wins campaigns by talking about yesterday. you have to talk about tomorrow. if donald trump wants to talk about those future issues and critiquing the biden administration and laying out a thoughtful plan for what we do next, he will be a very powerful voice in the debate going forward. but if we continue to look backwards, that is not whawe need to do. >> one question out there, governor, is why is chris christie the right person to be making this argument. because after all you were one of the first people to endorse former president trump. you stuck with him through what, the 2016 ac

he's been out of the white house for years. but mark meadows was white house chief of staff at the time. so many of these other individuals worked in the white house at the time. joe biden, the president who actually it's up to, in terms of waiving or asserting executive privilege, has said no for meadows, for example. but might courts see it differently? >> yeah, i think the different people have different levels of argument they can make. among the whole crew and it worked out this way for a reason, steve bannon has the least. he wasn't in the employ of the executive branch at the time. he was an outside person. he also was completely blanket refusing to come testify. you'll see that jeffrey clark, a former doj official, basically did what steve bannon did but in a more subtle way. showed up. showed respect to the committee. invoked privilege at various junctures. answered some mundane questions but that's a way of showing respect for the committee and reasonableness in the minds of that person. so someone like mark meadows h

. >> what i hear from the white house, white house officials, as well as the president himself, is this sense of urgency. this sense of trying to tell americans, we hear your struggles. we see the gas prices and rising prices at the grocery store, and we want to help. yesterday, the president spoke at length about the release of oil, part of the strategic petroleum reserve. he did, though -- he wasn't able to give a date on sort of when people will start to see relief from that. the energy secretary, she told reporters yesterday that hopefully within a couple weeks, people will start to see prices come down. that, of course, is what they called a band aid. they admitted themselves it's a temporary fix, and that long term, americans really will need some help here. they said the real way to deal with this is clean energy. that, of course, is a very, very long-term solution. the other thing to note is every president has really dealt with this. whether you look at john f. kennedy or lyndon b. johnson or richard nixon, every president in some ways tried to get their arms around inflation.

so the white house wants more schools to host vaccine clinics. in a letter to school superintendents, the biden administration notes there's ample funding and resources to help from the american rescue plan that passed earlier this year. the white house also notes information and encouragement directly from schools could help raise vaccination rates. but do you worry that many schools might just not want the headache? >> well, first of all, it's a great idea. so those schools that are willing to do it would certainly be a major contribution. it does remind one of the polio days. you're trying to mass vaccinate children. sometimes the easiest way is through schools. but, obviously, i think the fallback is going to be when pediatricians offices. >> since vaccines for children 5 to 11 became available last week we've seen an overwhelming response in some parts of the country with parents lining up with their kids to get shots but then one father in the d.c. area told us that he waited three-plus hours to get his kids vaccinated. think about that for
