robin, good to see you. we saw your names come up in the credit. thanks for joining us. so, how did franklin come to be a what sort of cultural impacted he have? >> so, frankly actually came to be -- actually his full name is franklin armstrong. but frankly team to be through an act of a light ship in 1968, -- a couple of weeks after the assassination of martin luther king, a white school teacher wrote a letter to charles schulz and said i think you need to have african american representation in your comic strip. and charles schulz brought her back and said, i would love to do that, but i want to make sure that the black community does not think that i'm condescending to them. so, he was very aware of a potential impact. she spoke to several of her friends who were black and they said, they thought it would be a great thing. wrote him back, told him that, and shortly thereafter, franklin was in the comic strip. actually, july that same year, from april to july. >> so, before we talk about the legacy of franklin. there is controversy around this iconic scene. here frankl

[laughter] in the summer of 2020 in, you know, the period around the george floyd protests. but i think there is a sort of, they represent how a certain kind of progressive ideology on race catches out in practice in views on public policy, in views on sort of how we should deal with racism like kind of corporate anti-racist trainings that you hear so much about come often straight out of robin deangelo's work or other work like hers. a lot of the push is to, you know, sort of do away with or revise education and academic standards, i think, are connected to the argument in ibram kendi's work that, you know, those kind of programs are themselves effectively racist. they're sort of, you know, they aren't just sort of revealing differences, dlairting differences -- they're creating differences and so they need to be done a

the democratic party is the party that's trying to shut down robin hood. when you look at innovation and where the republicans are on crypto and other financial instruments and other opportunities for people to diversify their portfolio, expand to new technologies. silicon valley doesn't love us but we've always protected their right to exist where folks on the left, want to break them up and do other things to them. with policies, we're actually pretty sub stan active in a minority situation, especially when the other side, as my co-panelist said is destroying themselves. look at mccarthy. he formed seven working groups which is going to produce an agenda for a governing majority when we take the house back next year so we're already planning to have our committees ready to go from day one so, you know, it's a nice talking point but it's not cram. >> can i ask you a question, this en? because the perception -- he talked about the numbers, which is, of course, his favorite thing to do. and imagine being married to that all day long.
