oakland today reaching upper 60s. san mateo today headed for 69 degrees. 64 in the outer areas, and we are taking a break from the rain for now and it's approaching the coast but will move into the bay area later today with scattered showers first starting in the north bay, and 12:00 we are seeing the moving into san francisco and oakland and down the peninsula and into the south bay before sunrise tomorrow morning. we could see spotty light showers late tomorrow morning, but the afternoon is looking nice once again. all of the rain for most of us coming while we are sleeping, so we are looking at about a quarter inch of rain, and slightly higher for parts of the north bay and less for the south bay and tri-valley. the outlook for the rest of the month does show we could see above average rainfall, and for the month of november, the outlook for temperatures looks chilly, especially with all of the rain. we are looking at cooler than normal temperatures here on the 7-day forecast. our inland areas in the upper 60s, and

three men approach retired oakland police captain ersie joyner as he pumps gas. they search him for valuables and then check his car. that's when joyner pulled out a gun, shooting and killing one of them. they returned fire, hitting him six times. sources now tell nbc bay area's cheryl hurd that three people have been arrested. u.s. marshals tracked the driver of the getaway car to houston, where they took him into custody. two of others tied to the shootout were arrested in the sacramento area. joyner, meanwhile, spent several weeks in the hospital and is now recovering at home. >>> we have new video this morning showing a swarm of people robbing a nordstrom store in walnut creek yesterday evening. our reporter jody hernandez was there when it happens. she says about 25 cars blocked the street, people jumped out, rushed into nordstrom, racing back out with merchandise before driving away. it's so similar to what we saw in san francisco's union square friday night. one man who works at a nearby restaurant tells us what he saw. >> i probably saw 50 to 80 people in

i don't think that's a problem for oakland. it's early right now. >> yes, it's early. wall street is set for a mixed open this morning after the markets closed at record highs just last friday following the better than expected jobs report. the economy adding 135,000 jobs in october. the dow and nasdaq and s&p 500 all ended the week last week higher, and the dow extending the winning streak for six straight days on friday, and the nasdaq at ten straight days. in focus for this week, we have reports from producer and consumer prices, and consumer sentiment. american airlines will pay flight attendants during the peak time of the holiday season, time and a half if they work straight through the holidays, and those that have no absences will receive 150% pay. they believe that will provide relief after a difficult period when employees faced uncertain schedules and other challenges such as a lack of hotel rooms. retailers is starting to get a lift as international visitors are allowed again. that means more than 25% of the total shopping is driven by travel and tourism. r

oakland reaching 66. daly city heading for a high of 62. san francisco will be at about 61 in the outer sunset. the 7-day forecast at the bottom of the screen, we will be warmer but today in the upper 60s, which is not bad at all. we are seeing some storm systems to the north, and it may bring in light snow flurries to the sierra, and for now we are staying dry. we are seeing storm systems back to the north and that's where it will stay going into at least the next week. we are not expecting more rain even though there will be a lot of action going on out there over the ocean. another storm system as it moves in will just fall apart before it gets here, and we are hoping to see changes there as we get closer. as we look at temperatures in san josÉ, warming up for the weekend, it's going to be nice for getting outside. upper 70s for sunday, and monday cooler. we are seeing the cooling trend continue through the middle to the end of next week. looking at the 7-day forecast, inland areas headed for the 70s for the holiday weekend. next week,

oakland hills, almost half an inch. santa rosa, three quarters of an inch of rain. redwood city measuring 0.3, as well as danville. san josÉ, 0.08 of an inch. that's nothing, but we'll take it. we will see mostly sunny skies later this afternoon. it will take a while to clear out because we are starting out with fog but heading to 71 degrees in danville. march -- martinez, 69 degrees. clearlake, we're topping out at 66 degrees. there's another system that will bring in another quick round of rain. it's not looking like a big storm. it mainly comes through late wednesday night into early thursday morning. but we will see it sweeping through, and then by thursday afternoon it's all clear and we're looking at the possibility of getting about a quarter inch of rain in parts of the north bay, but for the rest of the bay area, as you head from san francisco on southward, maybe 0.1 of an inch of rain, and we'll watch that. dry for the weekend and mostly sunny skies, and then on sunday we will set our clocks back one hour and by monday we will have another round of rain co
