oakland today reaching upper 60s. san mateo today headed for 69 degrees. 64 in the outer areas, and we are taking a break from the rain for now and it's approaching the coast but will move into the bay area later today with scattered showers first starting in the north bay, and 12:00 we are seeing the moving into san francisco and oakland and down the peninsula and into the south bay before sunrise tomorrow morning. we could see spotty light showers late tomorrow morning, but the afternoon is looking nice once again. all of the rain for most of us coming while we are sleeping, so we are looking at about a quarter inch of rain, and slightly higher for parts of the north bay and less for the south bay and tri-valley. the outlook for the rest of the month does show we could see above average rainfall, and for the month of november, the outlook for temperatures looks chilly, especially with all of the rain. we are looking at cooler than normal temperatures here on the 7-day forecast. our inland areas in the upper 60s, and

you have oakland, san francisco, san a year ago oaklanders were paying$3.30 a gallon. well over a dollar increase in the the past 12 months. the differences are also in san francisc and san jose. we found the consumer price index that prices are rising faster than analysts expected. used cars and truck up 26%. the price of beef up just over 20%. the economy is still showing some signs of recovery from the pandemic. last month the rate of unemployment dropped as the united states added more than half a million jobs. part of it blamed on the supply chain backlog, where goods are being sent from overseas faster than they can be off loaded here. >> our hope is that over time once you get more workers back to the workforce, once you're able to unload all those ships, that the increases in prices will again to lessen. >> reporter: the white house has released $17 billion from the just passed infrastructure bill to help deal with that supply chain backlog. that money is going to projects that take years. there will be a signing ceremony on monday when president biden signs th

three men approach retired oakland police captain ersie joyner as he pumps gas. they search him for valuables and then check his car. that's when joyner pulled out a gun, shooting and killing one of them. they returned fire, hitting him six times. sources now tell nbc bay area's cheryl hurd that three people have been arrested. u.s. marshals tracked the driver of the getaway car to houston, where they took him into custody. two of others tied to the shootout were arrested in the sacramento area. joyner, meanwhile, spent several weeks in the hospital and is now recovering at home. >>> we have new video this morning showing a swarm of people robbing a nordstrom store in walnut creek yesterday evening. our reporter jody hernandez was there when it happens. she says about 25 cars blocked the street, people jumped out, rushed into nordstrom, racing back out with merchandise before driving away. it's so similar to what we saw in san francisco's union square friday night. one man who works at a nearby restaurant tells us what he saw. >> i probably saw 50 to 80 people in

it is the latest homicide on what's been a frightening couple of weeks in oakland. today mayor libby schaaf announced a plan to hire more police officers and to roll back some budget cuts to public safety. as far as the shooting, it happened sunday at 3:30 in the afternoon near lake merritt on grand avenue. police say that a passenger in a black toyota rav4 shot a man as he tried to stop a car break-in. the mayor says she wants to add an additional academy to add more officers to the ranks. the holiday she says always brings more crime, but schaaf says last year zero bail policy is contributing to the avalanche of crime in her city. >> the change in bail policies and we believe that that change is not giving sufficient weight in its consideration to gun-related crimes. >> we have to demonstrate our support for those officers who are sacrificing day daily to keep our community safe while, at the same time, investing in replenishing the ranks. >> crime stoppers offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of those people responsible for the shoo

police catch the person or persons who shot a private security guard in oakland. the shooting happened here at 14th and webster in front of prime 356. a crime reporter and guard were there to interview the store owners about a smash and grab involving some 30 people monday night that was captured on a surveillance camera. the owners came back to the store for a food give away when thieves arrived with guns blazing. >> somebody rolled up, said get down, he just started shooting at everybody. >> the security guard was hit by gunfire. >> he got shot for no reason. the dude didn't even take the camera. it was senseless. senseless attempt on multiple people's lives. >> reporter: the oakland's police department is asking for the public's help. >> we are asking if you were in the area, have a business or live nearby, check the surveillance footage, you may have captured the crime before, during or after it occurred. >> reporter: it is not the first time a tv crew has been shot the at oakland. it's part of the reason crews travel with guards now. in fact, one of our own n
