pete muntean is at a gas station in alexandria, virginia, with more. fuel prices are at levels we've not seen in years. what is driving this increase? >> jake, it's not really the huge demand on the horizon that's driving these prices but rather the supply. aaa says oil-producing nations are constricting the supply trying to recoup some of their pandemic losses. gas on average is about $1.30 more expensive than it was a year ago. a seven-year high and we're all about to pay for it. aa anticipates 48 million people will hit the road during the thanksgiving travel period. those numbers way higher than in 2020, pretty close to what they were back in 2019 prepandemic, and what's so interesting here is that aaa thinks these prices will not push people away from traveling. >> a lot more confidence. people are feeling better about traveling and no matter what the gas prices are, and they are quite a bit higher than last year, people are still going to take that trip. >> so the short version here, jake, the expense is back. the traffic is back. this thanksgivi
