the sierra foothills and then up into the sierra nevada. that's where your best chance of snowfall is already seeing some of that up in air this morning. you knew what the golden gate bridge right now is clear enough. any sort of cloud cover. we have a sitting above the bay. we do have some dense valley fog in spots but it's just the opposite of a coastal fog, rather, it's our inland valleys that will be looking at the potential of some fog this morning, which will certainly be keeping an eye on. where are we at with rainfall right now, what we do have some showers sitting just southeast of santa cruz as well as into far eastern portions of contra, costa and alameda counties. really us here in the bay area we're dry compared to our neighbors out towards the central valley. the sierra foothills and then elsewhere across the state. we've also seen some energy resurging that includes southern california, the eastern deserts and especially the sierra nevada today. going to be an active one with snowfall falling at those higher elevations of ver

what you do get in the crest of the sierra. that's where you're looking at that snow having accumulated overnight, including routes like highway 50 and i 80 now for the bay area. things have certainly quieted down pretty evident here on radar. we'll zoom in on a couple of spots that we're still seeing some showers. those showers of work a little bit further south from fremont and from hayward and union city. although your roadways are wet skies of at least dried out temporarily for you where those showers have headed. well, that's a little bit further south just east of milpitas up above the foothills above san jose can actually see some pretty good rainfall intensity just east of milpitas right now as far as shower activity goes on the south into the peninsula. we are seeing most of our rainfall concentrated in upper elevations. but if you are traveling to a year doing so with some very slick conditions right now from woodside. as you head down towards los gatos. you are looking at some areas of light rainfall continuing even

snow e in the sierra as well. in fact, mammoth mountain expects the upcoming atmospheric river to drop several feet of snow. late weekend into monday. that means they now plan to open next friday, more than two weeks earlier than they had hoped to. it will be the first major sierra ski area to open to the public this year. and by the way, this is just the 10th time in mamma's history. that they have opened in the month of october, lake tahoe area will get its fair share of snow to let's check in again with meteorologist rosemary oroczo as we brace for what should be a pretty stormy weekend, i guess yes, it looks like we have the bull's eye right on sunday, and it will last into monday. from here on out later today and into the first part of saturday, going to get a bit of a break outsider doors at this hour. mostly cloudy skies, perhaps a little bit of drizzle, still remaining from the first system that brought some of us are a good amount of rain in the last 12 hours or so. but we will break away to partly sunny

drivers in the sierra today had to get out the change. ski resorts and shops say this early snow is a great sign for the season. snow and slick roads in the sierra monday brought the plows out and sent vehicles spinning out. lot of snow. bad conditions. yeah it's ice. it's slippery. just be careful on i 80 near sugar bowl, a big rig got stuck in the snow and had to be towed and near donner summit, a jeep facing the wrong way slid into a snow bank for sierra ski resorts. the early snow was a welcome sign for the season. palisades tahoe said more than three ft of snow fell on the upper mountain by monday morning as they prepare to open november 24th alpine meadows got two ft of snow at its space area ski resorts from sugar role to mount rose to #### valley. the mammoth on our reporting up to 48 inches in the last 24 hours. so it's the perfect setup to the south. heavenly got more than two ft of snow as they prepare for a november 19th opening. the early snow had various ski shops busy over the weekend at california ski company in berkeley.
