i want to end with netflix. shares were up as high as 3% after hours after they beat their subscriber growth. bloomberg was estimating 4.4 million total subscribers. they came out with 3.7. now projecting 8.5 million. on top of that, you did see they say they will be cash flow positive next year. that did move shares after hours, up by 3%. disney ticking higher once again. emily: i want to bring in the senior vice president for entertainment and media at trans union. good to have you back on the show. strongest subscriber growth of the year, even as the world continues to reopen. we are getting off our couches and going to work. are you surprised by this? >> no, i'm not at all. contrary, i thought the projected number was quite low. probably their worst quarter ever in the last four or five years. typically when they had a really poor quarter in terms of subscriber acquisition, the following quarter is really substantial. i think this was less of an increase -- [indiscernible] emily: is that because netflix is d

a few years ago, we were talking about which would be bigger, hbo or netflix. netflix is bigger. now were talking about whether netflix can take on disney. well, the game has changed, and out of respect to netflix. i don't think squid game was a one off. i did not know about it two months ago. neither did you. weikel back -- we go back a year, we didn't know about bridget and, but netflix has the ability to take these shows and launch them into the zeitgeist, and now there is an increase in people trying to learn korean, and there was a surge in chessboard sales because of queens gambit. you would not see squid game on disney plus. there is too much violence for disney plus. netflix has the ability, showing tremendous international strength. they are taking these shows that we all know, and netflix has the ability to take these and globalize them. what netflix is showing with a dozen really high quality shows that can go local with the ability to keep doing this, coming a content machine, like disney in the past, so i am super bullish on netflix. near-term, great run. i'd like it

i have amazon prime and netflix as an option and also pbs as an option. all of that is great, and, frankly, where there is an appetite to stimulate more competition in kids technology, that is a good thing. frankly, our laws, particularly the kids privacy law has for a long time, disincentivized services from building for kids because they were worried about running afoul. i think one of the things you have seen the last couple of years is that things like facebook messenger kids, youtube kids all good services, giving , parents a lot of control. one of the things we need to be more honest about the fact is that when kids hit that tween age, they start testing the limits of cade-designed technology. my organization is a big supporter of this bill by congressman raskin that would ring government resources to bear on how kids are using it. parents are really struggling with it and frankly i don't know that any government is giving them a very satisfying answer right now. emily: we will be following that hearing coming up. adam and naomi. thank you both for
