cnn's leyla santiago starts us off from florida where they continue to search from laundrie, the fiance who disappeared after he became a person of interest. >> cause of death by strangulation and the manner is homicide. >> reporter: the coroner releasing the autopsy results of 22-year-old gabby petito. the coroner ninitially determind the manner of death was a homicide. but the cause of death had not been announced. today the doctor says he was limited in what he disclosed from his report. >> who committed the homicide is really to be determined by law enforcement. this autopsy included a whole body c.a.t. scan, an examination by forensic pathologists, anthropologists, so it was pretty much covered all the bases. >> reporter: the coroner would only say the official autopsy report shows the body was out in the wilderness before the remains were examined. >> as far as the time of death, we are estimating three to four weeks from the time that the body was found. >> reporter: after an extensive search, petito's remains were found september 19th in wyoming's bridger-teton national forest.

laundrie now missing for nearly two weeks after he returned to north port florida alone. he'd been on a cross-country trip with girlfriend gabby petito, who was later found dead in wyoming. >> do you know where brian laundrie is? >> are they cooperating? >> reporter: and tonight, more details emerging about laundrie's whereabouts before he vanished. the family's attorney confirming he bought a new cell phone at an at&t store, though it was not clear why he needed it. the fbi now in possession of that phone. investigators also seen searching the laundrie's camper they took on a labor day trip to fort de soto park. this couple who was camping nearby says they saw brian and his parents together. >> apparently, they were at the campground when we were there, and they were right next to us. >> reporter: one of the couple's selfies capturing who they believe is brian laundrie walking in the background, possibly his last public sighting. >> they kept to themselves. they were there and then they weren't. >> so many questions remain tonight. victor, as we wait to learn more about
