lucky for us an msnbc contributor. let me start with you, cedric, and the sort of structural reformed eric adams campaigned on. he said you go in and you sort of reform and improve from within as a partner. that sounds like something that you talk about on our air. what do you think of his approach? >> well, i think one thing is important we have to have a variety of approaches if we're going to confront this crime. yes, you have to have police and that is paramount. you also have to have a strategy, a strategy that involves a course energizing and motivating your police officers to feel supported particularly right now when they feel in many cities in a great deal of distress. in addition to that, the strategies have to include things we have been hearing about that range from creating jobs for young people during the summer which we know helps reduce crime and strategies that have been driven that we know work as well. one of the biggest challenges in new york state is this whole idea around bail reform. a lot of peo

joining us now, reporting "women for the economy" for the 19th and back with us. senator hinojosa is a former spokesperson for the democratic national committee as well as the department of justice. when i hear child care as a wedge issue, i have a lot of questions, right. what is on the line? i know what is on the line for the country. i know what is on the line for women. what is on the line for republicans if they don't come to the table and try to be a part of this negotiation? >> this is, you know, has increasingly become key, key issue for the biden administration. they want to see this passed and they want to see it passed at the same time as this infrastructure, this jobs plan that the republicans have come together with democrats to pass. so these two things have to pass at the same time. the biden administration has said he -- he has said, i will not sign a bipartisan infrastructure bill if this other plan that has child care in it, that has paid family leave, universal pre-k, if this plan does not also pass at the same time. so we have sort of these two

who's useful and who's the idiot? >> the reality is, this russian and disinformation and propaganda and the kind of garbage that imminents every night if you tune into tucker carlson or if you see donald trump's statements here. they clearly are serving news of what those russian trolls, the reality is they're all existing in the same ecosystem of conspiracy theories. the challenge of this is people take it seriously. there should be and used to be some responsibility that goes along with that. people may not have the capacity to sort out disinformation online or may look at tucker carlson and wonder whether he may be telling the truth. when they see the republican leader who may want to be speaker of the house inherited that. that grossly contributes to misinforming of the american people and some of the american people in this kind of bubble of conspiracy theory and incredibly corrosive to the health of our democracy. it is incredibly cynical. it is not normal politics. it is something much more sinister than that.

tell us more. >> sure. so a couple of developments or at least a couple of things that we can glean from this, nicole, is basically he is asking, and apparently according to joel greenberg's attorney, prosecutors agreed with this, asking for a 90-day extension. he was supposed to be sentenced on august 19th in the morning. that would bring us out to simple math into november. when we look at this, this is something that we kind of typically see when cooperation is going well. in other words he's still talking to them. he's got more to share according to his attorney, and they want to keep this going. as you may remember from his plea agreement, the idea that his sentencing could be further reduced is entirely dependent upon his truthful cooperation. so that's what we're seeing here, nicole. a couple of things that could be happening, not necessarily are happening but typically in these situations you see somebody who investigators are talking to other people, they continue to come up perhaps with more docum
