holly pinheiro, an assistant professor of history at augusta university. in the fall, he will be taking up a new position at furman university in south carolina. congratulations on the new job and best of luck there. augusta university, one of the big projects he's worked on is to establish a race and social justice project which included creating an endowed scholarship for students studying black history. he's the author of several articles on black civil war military service and, right now, he's in the final stages of finishing off a book which is going to be published by the university of georgia press next year. definitely one to look out for. it's called the families were, same title as tonight lecture. we are going to get a sneak preview of the book tonight and he's going to speak for about ready to 35 minutes, so we will have plenty of time for questions. you can ask questions through the queue and day -- through the queue -- the q&a box in zoom. dr. new hall and i will steer them toward our guests and we are looking forward to seeing the questions
