ward targeted arizona election officials with a pressure campaign, according to "the arizona republic." but inlike in georgia where the gop secretary of state recorded a call with the president, the keymar -- key maricopa county election official refused to speak to trump. ron brownstein joins us. why are these latest revelations significant to you? >> happy fourth to you and everybody watching. i think there are two real important conclusions that come out of these revelations in arizona. one is that we simply do not know all the ways in which donald trump used and abused his power as president. it just underscores the need for a more comprehensive understanding of what he did in office. and all of the ways in which he may have gone beyond the proper boundaries of the use of presidential power, especially given that he may ask the country to restore it to him again in a little over three years. i was talking to our colleague john dean a couple of weeks ago for a story i was writing. he noted that when nixon left office, we had so much of a better idea of everything that had happened

of delaware and others aren't so easy in cities like arizona. so there are going to be differences. the supreme court will uphold, i predict, will uphold voter registration, voter identification and maybe even signature verification. they may not uphold some other issues that have had a disparate impact. we are seeing arguments on the extremes. one side is saying the argument was wrong and the other side is saying evidence was stolen. but we could do better. the goal is to maximize the number of eligible voters to actually come out and vote and minimize and maybe make zero the number of ineligible voters on the number of fraudulent and votes.n we can do that and we can do that without racial disparity and illegal actions. let's get back to that goal. the one in the ap, both in 2008 and 2012, the rate of african-american voter participation exceeded that of white americans in those two elections. big jared, your thoughts overall? >> garlands lawsuit against georgia is ludicrous. in fulton county come the double counting of ballots as you outlined

the arizona republic reports hickman's phone rang about 8:30 p.m. on new year's eve while he was on a date with his wife and friends in north central phoenix. he didn't recognize the number carrying washington d.c.'s area code and let it go to voice mail. hickman quickly listened to the message. the white house switchboard wanted him to call back so he could talk to the president he called in an interview with the arizona republic. hickman did not return the call and later deleted the voice mail. trump encouraged him to find enough votes to reverse trump's narrow loss there. hickman recalled listening to the leaked audio of that hour-long phone call after "the washington post" and other media outlets published the recording. i was horrified, hickman said. that same night at 9:22 p.m. approaching midnight in washington, his phone buzzed again. it was the same area code. he let it go to voice mail again. here is that voicemail from the white house operator on january 3rd. >> hello, sir, this is the white house operator. i was calling to let you know t
