our chief meteorologist lawrence karnow is here. concerning to say the least. lawrence. yeah, absolutely. i mean. >> that's really where we get all of water during the summer months since the see the snow pack as pours. it is. that's where it sits right now. but it's across the entire sierra nevada, not just one spot overall, we're just down and we just didn't get enough snow from so far this season. well, they're just not a lot of hope as you get in april to get much more 66% of normal in the northern sierra nevada. 63 1% normal in the central sierra nevada and only 41% of normal in the southern nick sierra nevada. far as rainfall is concerned, this could be the driest two-year stretch we've seen in california since 1975 through 1977 maybe the second driest since about 1849 looking for rain. now that doesn't look promising these models have been pushing some rain on shore. but watch what happens here as we get in toward the weekend. sunday. get easter sunday got plans looking dry. we're hoping to bring that rainfall in models yesterday were pushing the rain on monday. b

where things stand lawrence. yeah, just drought conditions developing then the really gotten the tightening their grip on the bay area. much of the western half the united states. this is not something that just developed overnight we've been dealing with this for quite some time now. 7 of last 10 years we've been a drought conditions. so, yeah, these last 2 exceptionally dry. and that's why we're seeing the extreme drought conditions showing up and spreading across parts of the bay area, but not only here. you see all on the western half of the united states. we're looking at some exceptional extreme drought conditions maybe a little on the rise in these last 2 years been just so dry. only 8 inches of rain this year in san francisco. so far that's 39% are normal and you get the idea all around the bay area's the same thing. 30% of normal or so. and that is about it. that coupled with the fact the last year we hardly had any rain. we've got a long, hot season ahead. worry about fire danger, lack of water and a lo

thanks, lawrence. lawrence crews are close to finishing their work on the installing suicide prevention. that's along the golden gate bridge. >> the work will impact where you can and cannot walk on the bridge at least for a while. kron four's. charles clifford has more. >> well here at the golden gate bridge. the bridge district is warning visitors that starting on april 6th will occasionally be blockages of the east walkway, which is where most people crossover on foot across this ban and also many people ride their bikes to commute back and forth to work there. now as part of the ongoing work to build a new suicide net barrier underneath the crews will need to start using the eastern side walk as a staging area for materials and equipment. that means they already narrow walkway will occasionally be even tighter. the bridge says they will have crews out there working as blackmon to help people navigate around these obstacles. they also say there are no plans to completely close the east walkway, whic

lawrence. yeah. and certainly it's a big concern to see some of those fires getting started this early, of course. >> these last 2 years to the driest consecutive years on record since 1849. the driest back in 1975 1977 through that period. of course, a lot of people remember those days when really haven't take severe confirmation conservation measures to just get us through. so that's kind of where we sit right now and all along the western half of the u.s. we're currently under drought taking a closer. you can see most of area currently under drought conditions, moderate drought conditions and then you move further to the north and that becomes a severe to even extreme drought conditions. as you make your way in northern slot on parts of napa county. so not only want to see the this early in the season. but you get these temperatures and there's something else today. records coming down around the bay area and those records. yeah. certainly an 85 degrees. that was a record in san jose. san francisc
