i'm terry and one of the owners of cliff's variety store on castro street. in considering legislation for shared spaces i think it's important that the legislation take a balanced look at a commercial corridor. there must be loading zones available for safety of employees and in order to receive the goods. there must be enough parking to make an area sustainable for all the businesses in an area. although we'd like to be a transit-first city, the reality is muni is desperately broken and was broken before the pandemic and we can't make plans on the hope that it will some day work. as a retail business, my customers need to be able to park. they will only make small purchases if they're unable to park. we're handing off our businesses to amazon, big box stores with parking lots. the parking must be necessary and continue the vitality on the streets. when i walk my business area, at least half the current parkettes in the castro are unneeded and underutilized. neither are utilized except by anyone with the unhoused. it has been boarded up for more than four mo

initially, we will be able to run from castro to fishermen's wharf. when the better market street construction starts, we will not have track access along market street. we have gone and done a train test and we do believe that we'll able to run trains from essentially fishermen's wharf to powell. even during construction. we'll be able to cover the highest demand area, which is essentially pier 39 to powell street. the reason i emphasize this, we want to make sure even as we celebrate the f line restarting, that we're transparent with stakeholders, they don't feel that we're immediately taking something away just as it started up. we will continue to use data to try to strategically address crowding. this map is really very dependent on what is the maximum capacity. we're working closely with the department of public health and anticipate that as vaccines continue that may be some changes in the capacity. by mid-august, we're focused on restart of schools. we do expect the covid capacity restrictions to have been lifted. this is an area of uncertaint

this business is located 18th street closure in the castro and holds drag shows every saturday and sunday. neighbors submitted three complaints in the last week, back-to-back this past saturday. i was able to respond in real-time and educate the manager on the j.a.m. permit and needed to turn down the sound levels. the manager was interested and expressed sincere interest in compliance. happy to report we received a genuine email from the complainant the following day explaining the sound level was much better and commending us for our efforts. this case is now closed. lastly, i want to tell you about butter on 11th street. over the past few weeks we have received complaints that the business is hosting loud music above their allowable sound levels along with complaints the business has been staying open with outdoor amplified sound past 10:00 p.m. i was able to visit on sunday and talk to the owner. upon my arrival the business was hosting very loud drum and bass music audible for much further than 50 feet away which is their current sound limit. i urged the manager to lower the sound le
