" >>> it's a specific kind of terror, that only seems to, constantly, haunt the united states. mass shootings. the most recent took place, thursday night, at a fedex-ground facility in indianapolis, indiana. eight people lost their lives. that horrific news is compounded by the number of similar incidents, in recent weeks. in fact, it's the 45th-mass shooting in the u.s., since the atlanta-area spa killings, on march 16th. and some cities have had more than one. now, cnn defines a mass shooting as one, in which at least four people are hurt or killed by gunfire, not including the gunman. officials say they won't reveal the identities of the people who are wounded in that shooting friday but they have released the names of those who lost their lives. they are 32-year-old matthew r. alexander. 19-year-old samaria blackwell. 66-year-old amarjeet johal. 68-year-old jaswinder singh. 48-year-old amarjit sekhon. 19-

in fact, this is the 45th mass shooting in the area since the atlanta killings on march 16th. a mass shooting is defined as one four people are hurt or killed by gunfire, not including the gunman. officials say they won't reveal the identities of the people winded in that shooting on friday but they have released the names of those who lost their lives. they are the following. investigators in indianapolis are combing through what they called a chaotic crime scene. they also identified the gunman and revealed how he ended on law enforcement's radar last year. jason carroll has that, plus details on how the horrific incident unfolded. >> i saw a man with a machine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle and he was firing in the open. >> eight dead and several others injured after a gunman opened fire in indianapolis at a fedex facility. >> we started hearing six to around ten shots. this made me stand up and actually look at the entrance door. >> my buddy levi saw somebody running out of the building and then more shots went off. somebody went behind their car to the trunk and got

i'm robyn curnow live from cnn world news headquarters here in atlanta. so after more than a year of the covid pandemic, america's health care workers are running on empty. there's no other way to say it. a new poll from "the washington post" and the kaiser family foundation lays out some troubling signs. i want you to have a look at this. roughly 3 in 10 health care workers say they've weighed up leaving the profession. more than half are burned out, and about 6 in 10 say stress from the pandemic has harmed their mental health. to talk about that, i want to bring in dr. mona massoud, an outpatient psychiatrist and the finder of the physician support line. doctor, thank you very much for joining us. what kind of pressure are frontline health workers under at the moment? >> frontline workers, physicians, nurses, everyone on the actual front lines of covid as well as kind of behind the scenes in our clinics and outpatient settings are all under a tremendous amount of pressure being called heroes and being expected to kind of fight a battle or a war that the

since the atlanta area spa shootings on march 16th, there have been at least 50 mass shootings reported in the united states. >> when you see people getting killed, i mean, in this last month it's just been horrifying what's happened. how can you say that's not a public health issue? >> reporter: what also has health professionals and public officials worried is the idea of americans simply accepting this kind of mass gun violence. >> we must guard against resignation or even despair. the assumption that this is simply how it must be and that we might as well set used to it. >> reporter: president biden has in recent weeks announced some executive actions on gun control, including a measure to eliminate kits that people can buy to build untraceable guns at home. the president also wants to ban assault-style weapons and high capacity magazines and establish stricter background checks for gun purchases, but despite all the mass shootings just since president biden has been in office there's little appetite among republicans and even some moderate democrats in congress to pass stricter gun
