the lawmaker behind the new executive order mayor of atlanta, keisha lance bottoms. mayor, thank you for being here. what exactly do you want to accomplish with this executive order? the law has already passed. >> well, thank you for having me. and what we want to accomplish is the 1.2 million customers in the metro atlanta area, what this new law means. how they can get the appropriate i.d., the new rules related to absentee ballots. we want our customers to be informed. so ambassador young tells a great story. one day of voting when he first ran for congress and 74% turnout in the african-american community. so even though there may be barriers, we can still overcome those barriers and we want to make sure our customers are informed so they need to know what to do to cast their ballot when the time comes. >> we have heard a lot about no food or water in line, but beyond those headlines what is the most dangerous part of this bill? >> the most dangerous part of this bill, in my opinion, is the dialing back or giving to the state legislature control over the election

over half of the population in atlanta is black. the revenue loss from the all-star game going away could total more than $100 million in lost tourism revenue to the area according to one official. but when you're looking at the voting laws, the reason why mlb moved the game out of georgia to colorado, when you compare the two states, colorado has fewer days of early voting than georgia. 15 days to georgia's 17. both states require a valid i.d. to vote by mail and in person. they also both allow no excuse vote by mail. but politicians on the local level in georgia could be having the biggest impact on businesses that are choosing to take a political position on this. georgia house voted to strip delta, one of the outspoken corporations of millions of dollars in tax breaks. the georgia senate still has to weigh in on this before the bill potentially could land on the governor's desk for him to sign offer on. but the bottom line is, there can be consequences on the local level for these corporations. we also, david, did reach out to m

this interview is from the veterans history project and was conducted by the atlanta history center. virginia: i was born and raised in gettysburg, pennsylvania. very small town. my whole family was there. aunts, uncles, grandparents. it was easy to have a family relationship. it was my mom and dad and three girls, i was the middle of the three girls. my dad was in world war ii, the army corps of engineers, served in alaska. his brother john was a physician and he served in the european tour in belgian and in the korean conflict. my mother's brother, he served on the are skinny, so i did have service people in my family. one of the highlights of gettysburg is memorial day. when i was a little girl, they had the grade school kids march in the memorial day parade carrying flowers and we would march in our classes and it was a long march, but back then, it did not seem like it. we would march towards the gettysburg national cemetery, and when the taps started playing, we were eschewing flowers on the unknown soldier's grave, many from the civil war. i remember the semicircular graveston
