everybody does business in atlanta. the mlb is doing a major piece of business in atlanta for july. they were going to have the all-star game. it was a celebration with fans returning to the stadium but the passing of the great african american ball player, probably the greatest, hank aaron that died this year. amid that, the controversy over the georgia voting law. you have people like president biden calling it a new jim crow. stacey abrams also a voting rights activist credited with turning the peach state blue the last election, coming out against this law. lebron james, the basketball star, also a voting rights activist against the law. put that together, the mlb commissioner manfred said that these activists would turn it into a circuit and political debate over this law, take away from what major league baseball is, a game of relief from all the pressures of day-to-day life. here's what we know. stacey abrams and lebron james. stacey abrams herself and lebron james did meet with senior mlb officials to advocate that the league denounced new voting laws and the commissioner be

it turns out the big paper in atlanta "the atlanta journal constitution" reported that the law would ban voting after 5:00. the paper's reporters apparently hadn't read the law. they had to append this correction to their piece which effectively was the same as admitting they were repeating talking point without doing any research which is what they were doing. here it is, quote: a previous version of this story said the new law would limit voting hours on election day in georgia polling places are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and if you are in line by 7:00 p.m. you are allowed to cast your ballot. nothing in the new law changes those rules, end quote. that's the truth. finally appended to a lie. now, joe biden got his research on that bill from reporters who did no research. see how that works? today at the white house press briefing one reporter did ask an interesting question why is joe biden on television demands a boycott of an american state while not demandings a boycott of china? after all, the biden administration just declared that china was committing genocide against

msnbc reporter in atlanta with the latest. good morning. >> good morning, lindsey. it's a chilly morning here in atlanta, after a week of back and forth like you said, between georgia republican lawmakers and now so many of these corporations speaking out in the aftermath of this bill already being signed, extremely restricted measures on voting rights here in the state. it would primarily target the areas around atlanta which we know heavily votes democratic and also tends to be more people of color and voters of color in these communities as well. so it really will make a large impact on the voting base here. but what we saw just yesterday is that the mlb pulling out their all-star game from georgia, and now truist field is a little outside of atlanta and they say the game would no longer take place in the state and they have not yet announced where the game will take place instead, but it comes out and opposes the voting measure as well. i want to read a statement from the mlb commissioner. this is what they said yesterday. major league baseballed ifly supports v
