abc's elwyn lopez leading us off from atlanta. >> reporter: tonight, after an 11 day pause, the johnson & johnson vaccine >> i think the benefits outweigh the risks. >> reporter: at least 22 states saying they'll resume the one-dose shots immediately. what would you say to people who are hesitant? >> i would just say look at the facts, trust science. >> reporter: the cdc and the fda recommending j&j's shot come with a warning label of the risk of rare blood clots. so far, 15 blood clot cases verified, but with 8 million shots given, that's about 1 clot per 500,000 vaccines given. experts say things like birth some americansse are exceedu a blood clot than the rare but potentially deadly type from the shot. >> the risk of you having this complication versus the potential risk of getting covid right now certainly is on the side of getting covid. >> reporter: over the past nine days, the average number of daily vaccines administered dropping nearly 16%. and with supply outpacing demand, some states like louisiana and mississippi now asking for fewer doses. adding to growing concerns that v

but first, abc's steve osunsami leads us off from the cdc in atlanta. >> reporter: it's the covid vaccine that promises good protection with a single dose. an important tool for public health officials around the world, but tonight, the fda is telling everyone to hold off using the johnson & johnson vaccine. a very small number of women have come down with an extremely rarely blood clot after getting the shot. >> this is a really rare event. if you look at what we know so far, there have been six out of the 6.85 million doses, which is less than one in a million. >> reporter: all six women were between 18 and 48 years old. they got sick about 6 to 13 days after getting vaccinated. the clots formed in veins of the sinus and prevented blood from draining out of the brain. one woman died, another in critical condition. there's no evidence showing the vaccine caused the condition, and to be super clear, your chances of getting struck by lightning are nearly twice as high. one in half a million. but the fda is warning anyone who got the johnson & johnson vaccine in the last three weeks to be o

i know you gave an interview with the los angeles times about the atlanta area shootings, at the number of spas by that young man. and in that case, that case, was purchased legally, can you elaborate a little bit more on what happened in that case? >> so that was a situation where the gun was purchased within, you know, in california we have a 10 day waiting period to buy a fighter arm, firearm. research shows that whether it's people who intend to do harm to themselves, or others, very often holding off period or space between purchasing the gun and acquiring the gun can make a huge difference in preventing that from happening or maybe people get help or have second thoughts about the act they are going to make. in this case, the gun was purchased so soon before the event of that really, there was no opportunity or that individual to get the help they needed. you know, the other thing we are finding, and the thoughts are always different in these cases, a lot of times, now we are seeing connections between extremism and hate crimes, and hate speech and some of the shootings. so there'

that's according to a letter obtained by the "atlanta journal-constitution." this comes after coke publicly criticized georgia's new election law passed by the republican-controlled legislature. critics, of course, say the law unfairly restricts voting access, particularly to minorities. coke, as well as the atlanta-based delta airlines and more than a hundred other companies have publicly come out against the law. and major league baseball has pulled this year's all-star game from the state of course. the corporate fight against georgia's new election law got started when dozens of current and former black corporate executives joined forces to challenge the law and lawmakers. tony west is the chief legal officer at uber and one of those 72 black executives who signed a letter pledging to protect voter rights. he spoke to cnn about the responsibility corporate america has on the issue. >> well, look, i think, you know, american businesses have always made their voices heard in our democracy on all kinds of critical issues, right, whether it's tax policy or h1-

major league baseball is moving the all-star game out of atlanta in protest. we are in atlanta with the surprising reaction from leading georgia democrats. >> it's a strong message from major league baseball to republican lawmaker who just passed and signed new voting restrictions in georgia. baseball commissioner is siding the good number of black americans and business leader who believe that the new rules are voter suppression saying i decides that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year's all-star game and mlb draft. this week the president came out encouraging this. >> i would strongly support them doing that. people look to them. they are leaders. >> this is money and business we are talking about and even many georgia democrats who fought the new rules are happy with baseball's decision. stacy abrams said i don't want to see georgia families hurt by lost events and jobs. she said she still commends them for speaking out. georgia's governor said this state will not be bullied. there are dos of state houses across the

. >> reporter: i'm amara walker in atlanta. the crackdown continues in miami beach after officials say spring break crowds were out of control. so as a result of the chaos and disorder the city of miami beach is now extending its state of emergency through easter weekend. that means by 7:00 p.m. all outdoor seating at restaurants and sidewalk cafÉs in the high impact zone must close. the high impact zone will be closed to people and cars from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 in the morning. the restrictions take effect thursday april 1st and go through sunday april 4th. >> reporter: i'm martin savidge in atlanta. georgia will soon start rolling back the state's remaining coronavirus restrictions. that's the result of a number of executive orders signed by governor brian kemp. many of those changes will go into effect next week. they include lifting the ban on large gatherings and cutting back a lot of the safety guidelines for businesses such as bars, retail stores and entertainment sites. this comes even as federal health officials warn of

matthew is with us, he's a public health doctor in atlanta. doctor, some of the reactions to the doses, four states, iowa, north carolina, georgia, some paused vaccinations, the cdc has acknowledged reports of vaccine recipients experiencing dizziness, lightheadedness, rapid breathing or sweating. normal side effects or something that people should be concerned about? >> well, you know, with any side effects to any vaccine is something we have to pay close attention to. if you look at how people get vaccinated in large numbers, as the numbers increase, you are going to find that people will have side effects. the good news about most vaccines, the side effects are minor, maybe pain at the injection site, fever or chills. when somebody passes out or feels dizzy, yes, that is a rare side effect. and we need to make sure that we have fluids. that patients can actually lay down until the blood pressure comes up. overall, not concerned. again, as you start vaccinating more and more people, you are going to find some of these rare side effects. >> b
