what fbi made very clear is these pipe bombs, though they did not detonate, were viable. january 5th, 2021. right here, back then, benches as well as several bushes and back then, some time between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., the suspect who remains at large planted a pipe bomb pretty much right here. fast forward to january 6th, 11:30 a.m. that's when kamala harris came here with her motorcade and she came within yards of this pipe bomb, jim, coming around this corner, coming right into this garage. she arrived at 11:30 a.m. the pipe bomb was not discovered, jim and biana, until 1:06 p.m. further, she wasn't evacuated until 1:14 p.m. puts her here at the dnc for almost two hours while this pipe bomb lay outside. what law enforcement tells us is that the the united states secret service which was responsible for her protection that day did sweep the areas where she would be at the highest risk. the areas inside the building where she was the most vulnerable. the areas coming into the dnc, the area's exit, the parking deck, all the areas where she would physically be, however

that's what the fbi is going to look at. the big question is do they sit down with the former president, do they actually sit down and question him about what his mindset was, what his intent was over the weekend? >> are there legal consequences for any of this. still an open question. errol louis, it was notable president trump claimed the three attorneys who investigated him who, we should note, are all black. he called them racist prosecutors. what's your reaction to that? >> well, that is a trump tactic we've seen from way back, trying to buy people using the easiest thing at hand which in this case would be race. we should note for the record that the investigation of donald trump in new york, the manhattan district attorney was cy vance, a white anglo-saxon protestant. he began the investigation and his term ended. the new black district attorney has been there 31 days. donald trump doesn't kaerp about that. het wants to get people riled up and in the streets to support him. it's kind of a gangster move in a lot of way

attorney and senior i fbi official chuck rosenberg, both msnbc contributors. liz cheney said this morning that trump would do it again if he had the chance. the january 6th committee investigating his efforts to overturn the election. he said out loud that's exactly what he wanted pence to do. what else do they need to see? >> that's a good question. he's said this out loud. it's difficult to square because we know it was his intent in 2021. but what's interesting here is he put out a statement also that said that congress is trying to rewrite the laws to make sure the vice president doesn't have a role, which means the vice president could have had a role and could have overturned the election, which is a wild misread of the law. i'm not suggesting donald trump is an expert on public laws, but the congress is to make sure that it's abundantly clear, without a shadow of a doubt, that congress, that the vice president of the united states, cannot and has no role in determining the outcome of a public election. that was already the case, but the law was written

in georgia has actually called on the fbi for security, worried about the threats that have been prompted by some of the unhinged things that he said at that rally. and he continued with his anti-democracy theme over the weekend, issuing this just delusional statement in response to congress actually considering making changes to the electoral count act to make sure that the kind of scheme that he wanted to see carried out couldn't actually happen. and he says this. mike pence could have overturned -- that's his word -- overturned the election. he knows he's under investigation in multiple places, so what's going on here? >> this is the president who is not known for his subtlety. the former president essentially saying the quiet part out loud. he wanted his vice president to overturn the results of an election in which more than 150 million americans voted and had their voices heard. he wanted one person, his own vice president, to turn over the election and essentially cast out those votes and say that i as vice president am going to determine who the next president is going to be. that
