. >> she's also reveal deg tails about a sexual assault she said ended her time at stanford. nbc bay area's kris sanchez joins us with more on where the trial stands now. kris? >> reporter: hi there, marcus and laura. the case right now is at a standstill. there's a 30-minute break in the courtroom right now. but already the day started with a back and forth with the judge without the jury present. about whether or not the deposition that sonny balwani gave to the s.e.c., the securities exchange commission, should be allowed. one side wants it. the other side does not. elizabeth holmes was already facing questioning about how she handled those whistleblower complaints as she admitted that she tried to discredit them as disgruntled employees in order to protect trade secrets, she says. also today holmes will face cross-examination of her testimony. on monday in which she alleged she was raped at stanford at 19, claiming that that was the real reason that she dropped out. she also testified that focusing on starting her own company was the way she coped with that trauma. her re

gretchen daley is a professor at stanford and is leading the project to show how the software can be adapted by cities and their developers to use space efficiently and cleanly, adding environmentally-friendly aspects to projects like san jose's proposed google village. they're already seeing results. >> and having more nature in and around cities can really alleviate that, lowering high temperatures by 5 degrees fahrenheit or more, just by having trees and wetlands. >> we asked san jose's mayor how his city, which redrentsly became the largest. he cited the city's largest software company, adobe systems. >> in fact, they retrofitted their headquarters to make it the greenest major headquarters in the world. they're now doubling the size of their headquarters in downtown san jose, and their new building will be entirely electric. >> reporter: with so much planned for this building right here, the national capital project hopes that along with investing in new buildings and parking and infrastructure they help some in adapting to a new climate. >>> we're interested in wanting to know

stanford at 19, so she testified that some of the money her parents saved for college actually went towards the company. she then started hiring people and most importantly meeting investors. those investors who would fund the company from the very beginning all the way up until the bitter end. she was very poised and like you said, her voice did not change. it was the same tone we have gotten used to all these years. one note, this was her team talking to her, the defense team, and they took the whole hour. certainly no cross examination today. they want the jury to have a poised holmes, a holmes who smiled at the jury and made eye contact with the jury and told a positive story as they go for the weekend. we won't hear any cross exam into sometime next week. >> scott, quick question here. the jury saw her today, but the voice is the same, but the look is so different. we're accustomed to seeing holmes in the black turtleneck, stark clothing. now she has a more warm, inviting look. how do you think it played with the jury? >> reporter: it seemed to play well with the jury. a lot of people

her children were part of the trial at stanford. >> we're all in this together. it's scary time with covid but an exciting time. science is making this for us. what a miracle. >> reporter: rene says her children are go doing great today, but she understands parents have a difficult choice to make. only a third of those surveyed are red owe to get their children vaccinated immediately. but she says she's comfortable knowing parents will have a choice in part due to her children. >> will parents get their younger kids vaccinated? about two-thirds of parents say not sure or mo way. 30% said they would not get their young kids vaccinated. for sure they wouldn't. 33% said they would wait and see. only 27% of parents said they would give the shot to their kids right away. some of the concerns are the potential side effects and long-term effects. some of the side effects were sore arms, fever. i'm going to speak with dr. peter chin hong about that and more at 5:30. and we know you have questions about getting your kids vaccinated. we're tracking all the developments as
