scott, specifically to where you are. santa clara county opened up for boosters for every single adult a week before the rest of the state did. two weeks before the fda gave the green light there. why so early? >> reporter: well, alex, santa clara county has a lot of experience and a lot of it not good with covid-19. remember, this is where some of the first covid deaths in the nation were recorded back in early 2020. they had a very rough winter surge last year and so they've done well with vaccinations upwards of 90% and yet cases are still trying to plateau or even tick up a little bit. they average now about 173 new cases per day and that's cause for concern so getting people in for boosters and getting youngsters in for their first shots, officials say that timing is crucial. >> we're not out of the woods and we are concerned because holidays are coming up, people tend to travel more, people tend to gather with larger groups, have gatherings at their homes and elsewhere, and so we just want to be extra careful so tel

how is it looking there, scott, at sfo? >> reporter: you know, it's definitely busy, alex, and it's busy in a way that we really haven't seen it in quite some time. they started setting post-pandemic travel records beginning on friday, and that's likely continue to accelerate as we get close to the thanksgiving holiday. the forecast from aaa says that 53.5 million americans are expected to travel during this holiday period. that's up 13% from a year ago in general. it's up 80% as far as air travel is concerned. but remember, last year at this time, we didn't have a vaccine, we still have a lot of places enforcing travel restrictions. that's all gone now and people are looking forward to getting back to their families and getting back to some of these traditions. now, the concern about the tsa comes out of numbers that came out about a month ago, that said that only about 60% of tsa workers were vaccinated and there were comments then from the union representing those workers that if that vaccine mandate that goes into effec

this took place at a highly anticipated concert by popular musician travis scott. officials say it was around 9:15 last night that at some point this crowd, of which there were about 50,000 people at this concert, but particularly this crowd at the front part of the stage started to surge its way forward for an unknown reason. that is currently under investigation, and it's at that point that they say some people in the crowd started to fall down, get trampled on, and that's what led to this panic that has resulted in the deaths of eight people, 17 others were taken to nearby hospital and treated for their injuries. i want you to hear what the houston police chief had to say about this ongoing investigation. take a listen. >> i have investigators out here on the scene. i'm sending the investigators to the home -- i mean to the hospitals because we just don't know, and we will find out. is there anything criminal? we've heard rumors of people injecting some people of drugs, so i want to check all that out. >> reporter: certainly a lot of questions that still need an
