then you have senator bernie sanders wanting to not allow that amendment. remember, when it comes to amendments, you do need 100 senators to be on board. senator shelby saying, if my defense spending can't get to the floor, i am not going to go ahead with this new crypto amendment that earlier today really was a bipartisan effort. that is right now where we have a little bit of a hurdle in the senate. other than that, a lot of the other objectives of the plan do seem like they are getting bipartisan support. earlier, a senate aide said we could get a debate around 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. this new debate regarding defense spending and crypto currency amendment could take us a little longer. emily: this leaves language in the bill broad oversight of the cryptocurrency industry, many in the industry not supportive of that. talk about the language as it stands right now. annmarie: if this amendment does not get to the floor, does not get a vote on, then if they vote without that amendment, as the text stands right now is where they would be voting on it. this is a

let's discuss this and more with the senate budget committee chairman, bernie sanders. senator, thanks as usual for joining us. the senate is starting to consider various amendments to this $1 trillion infrastructure bill. but you only have a handful of days before the senate recess. how do you get this done? >> by working very hard and working long hours. my hope and expectation is that this hard infrastructure bipartisan bill will get done by the end of the week, and then we will immediately turn to what we call the reconciliation bill, a bill which i think will have a positive impact on working families. and that will deal with issues of extending the child tax credit, that $300 a month check for working families for their kids, which has cut childhood poverty in america by 61%. we'll reform in a very comprehensive care. child care. we will expand medicare to cover dental care, eye glasses, hearing aids. we will have the united states to have paid family and medical leave. we're going to put a whole lot of money into affordable housing. and of course in the midst of

progressives like bernie sanders say there can't be an infrastructure bill without a larger spending package. but moderates want them separate. it seems like a thousand things could go wrong. how fragile is it tonight? you said bullish, but is there a little fragility there? >> well, of course. i mean it's got to go through the process, and you never know what kind of games people can play in the senate or the house. but, look, i think that if you take a look at this bill in its entirety, it does good things for this economy. and if we want to remain the leader of the world in economic power, i think this infrastructure bill is absolutely critical. if we want to make sure we get good-paying jobs not only for building the infrastructure but for generations to come, we need to pass this bill. if we want to make sure we don't hand the keys to the world economic power over to china, then we need to pass this infrastructure bill. so, yeah, i think there are plenty of reasons to pass it. if you want to take a sliver out of this and say i don't like this sliver and probably vote against it
