talk to us about your reporting. do we call it interaction between the biden white house and fox news? do we call it outreach? what wording do you prefer? >> i would say tiptoeing or arm's length. the biden white house made, raised a lot of eyebrows last week when it went after social media companies for spreading disinformation around vaccines. what was notable is that they had not done something similar with fox news even though i think objectively we can say that some of the evening hosts and guests have been some of the chief purveyors of disinformation and fear mongering around vaccines. we wanted to explore why it was the white house was taking this more muted approach to fox. the answer is they determined there is very little upside to going after fox aggressively like that. you will turn off the very people you need to convince to take the vaccine. on top of that, they don't want to put people on these evening programs because they don't think necessarily they would get a fair shake. what is notable, brian, t

put it all together for us and give us your matrix of concern right now. >> good evening elliott, good to see you. i guess what i would say, at the top line is if you're fully vaccinated with two doses of vaccine in the united states you are protected from the delta variant and hospitalizations. that's the -- two doses, that's key here. we can talk about those who received one dose later, like johnson & johnson, but that is the key piece. the discussion this morning for example about requiring the third dose is premature and we have seen doctor fauci and others pushback on that, appropriately so. with respect to school reopenings, the cdc got it right. this has to be a decision that local school districts make, based on local realities. however, i believe there will be some challenges here. you don't want local districts to enforce a mask mandate based on local realities. at which point if you're gonna mandate polio, measles, we should we will probably be mandating covid vaccines. i suspect it's going to happen in most parts of the country. lastly, i'll just say i really like the empha

kelly o'donnell is joining us about this. just this week the governors of california and nevada issued a plea for more resources. what do we expect to hear today? >> part of what is notable is that this is a cross section of governors from the west including bipartisan governors. montana, oregon, idaho. all of the places you expect. they are trying to have a kpoel whole of government approach in a way that is accessible to these governors and they have additional focus on things like fiery distance and extreme heat. having some working groups among the existing federal organization to target thosed kind of climate related issues. so this meeting is a chance for the president that will be gone at the executive office building where they will hear from these governors, get specifics about what they need, and troo to -- try to provide some resources. they are trying to track the issues, where is extreme testimony a factor and what federal resources can be brought to bear. this is enormously costly in lives, resources, structures
